The service aimed for the highest standard. Every wish was accommodated. Refreshment towels were offered at the start. Complimentary sparkling wine. Multiple reduced portions of dessert offered for those who can’t make up their minds. Highly attentive and friendly. Amuse bouche was a prawn on celeriac cream with cayenne spiced mango cube served with an edible flower. Appetiser was foie gras grilled to perfection served with spice poached pears, a crisp, garnished with edible flowers and reduction of sweet spiced jus. Pallette cleanser was a cauliflower purée with croquette. Mains were cod served with sweet onion compote and sea bass served with root purée and a beet chip. Accompanied by veg and roast potatoes to share. Everything seasoned and prepared to perfection. Dessert was a duo of white chocolate cheese cake and lemon meringue pie and a cheese plate. Espresso and sweets to finish. For full tasting menu with wine pairings including apéritif and dessert wine, bottomless bottled water and coffee the price was 39 Euro per person. Excellent quality and stunning value.

It’s sort of hard to describe this place… you really just have to see to believe. It’s an experience in Madeira that you don’t want to miss. The value for money is unbeatable! The service is absolutely top notch — massively accommodating, friendly and professional. The set up is that you get something like 5 or 6 courses, plus wine for one price. The menu is large enough that you are convinced that if you are going for the ‘meal deal’ that most items will be off limits to you — oh no. Almost the full menu is at your disposal! For our party of 6, everyone was satisfied with all of their food with the exception of the fois gras. I didn’t actually have it but apparently it wasn’t representative of past fois gras so maybe give this a miss. I recommend the risotto(asparagus or duck)! The duck risotto was expecially bangin! Basically, this place is awesome.

We are on our honeymoon, and last night was our first night on the island. There are many restaurant options on the main resort drag, but few are listed on Unilocal, and there are not many reviews. We sat outside on their covered patio, and each wicker chair had a fleece blanket draped over it in case the ocean breeze got chilly! We were immediately served sparkling wine compliments of the restaurant, and fresh bread with olive oil, butter, and balsamic. We opted for the € 39 menu, which included apéritif, amuse bouche, starter, white wine, sorbet, main course, red wine, dessert, coffee, and digestif. A great deal, and we were not surprised with any hidden charges at the end of the evening. Our wine glasses were refilled several times, but we were not charged extra. Each course was delightful; our starters were the scallops and foie gras, and our mains were duck and linguine with seafood. For desert we had passion fruit sorbet and chocolate fondant cake(as an American, I thought of fondant as the gross pliable topping to make wedding cakes look smooth… this was a molten lava cake). The service was friendly and professional, we never felt uncomfortable or out of place. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Madeira. They had menus in many languages. I would describe the cuisine as being French influenced. (My favorite part of the experience might have been the bathrooms, but I won’t spoil the surprise!)

This is a recent addition to the Funchal restaurant scene. Modern creative food, impeccable service. The 39 € 3 course menu, including wine a volonte is superb and exceptionally good value for money.

We travelled to Madeira Island all the way from California to enjoy the holiday season and since most of the restaurants were booked, we were advised that a new restaurant called GOYA just opened up and was affiliated with the Mozart and Forte São Tiago chain. It was one of the best highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the maître d’, Chris, who welcomed us «home». What a lovely greeting! The ambience was so amazing and grand. The service was excellent and every detail was not overlooked. We sure did feel so welcomed! There were several servers that was so attentive that our wine glasses were never empty. Chris also came around constantly to check on us and explained each wine he chose to go with our 7 course holiday dinner. The experience was so lovely and one not to forget. We gave our compliments to the chef who came out to shake our hands. This place is truly a hidden gem and we are so lucky we got to experience GOYA within the first week of its opening. Thank you GOYA, Chris, and the whole staff for making our experience one we will not forget! We will definitely be back! Obrigado!
