I live right opposite this restaurant and use it fairly often. I can’t understand the bad reviews its had. The place is always packed(which speaks volumes) maybe that is why the staff havn’t got time to make a big fuss of customers. I’ve always found the food to be very nice. We have a large group of friends some who live here and friends and family visiting and we have often gone to The Big Shangai for a meal and enjoyed the food. There is usually 20 plus of us. Surely it can’t be bad if we all keep going back.

I really can’t understand the poor reviews here. We have used the Big Shanghai during our last three visits to Albufeira. Can’t vouch for take away service, but the full dining service has always been excellent. I don’t know which staff members were rude, they all seemed polite and efficient to me. A couple of the waiters are Portuguese and real comedians. One spotted my camera and offered to take pics of me and my wife without being asked. Another nice touch is the offer of a complimentary glass of port as you pay the bill after your meal. In May we had our glass of port, paid the bill, but didn’t leave straight away as we were chatting to the couple at the next table, so up came our waiter and topped up our port glasses for second helpings! The place is always crowded because the food is good and the service is rapid. Apart from the Portuguese staff, the remainder are Chinese(obviously). Some have limited English so they don’t say much other than the names of the meals — some people could think they’re stand offish — but it’s just that they are nervous when trying to converse further. Don’t be put off — give this place a try and make up your own mind.

A lovely looking restraunt from outside, right beside the Pariso Hotel where we stayed. Ate out every night for 2 weeks and dine out every other night at home here in Glasgow, and we have NEVEREVER came across ruder ignorant staff in our life’s. My advice is they do not deserve or appreciate your business so DONOTGOTHERE!

Retaurants so kennt.
