THEBESTPIZZAINWARSAW/EUROPE/WORLD! I don’t know what exactly they do to the dough and sauce. Perhaps it’s made with unicorn magic, but whatever it is it works. As an American, I have a hard time finding pizza in Poland that I like. I usually find it very dry and salty. The pizza at UFO has a very pleasant sweet tomato sauce that doesn’t taste like ketchup or other weird red ketchupy things Polish people put on their pizza. The crust is delicate, light, and thin. The balance between the toppings and the cheese is ideal. Really, I have not had better pizza in Poland, Italy, or even the US(the home of pizza, democracy, and the ninja turtles). The thing about UFO is that it is kind of out of the way, near the end of Podwale. It isn’t in the old town so tourists probably don’t walk past it, and no one ever really goes that far down Podwale. If you aren’t sure where(since you’ve probably never been that far down Podwale) it’s opposite to that statue of the soldier baby. The place is tiny and the interior is rather shabby, which is understandable since it’s been there since the early 90’s. According to my local sources, nothing has changed over that time. Let’s be honest, once you try this pizza you won’t care about the fact that this place rates kitschy chinese restaurant on the fancy scale. For a pizza, which one person can easily eat alone, it’s about 30 pln. Although not exactly cheap, I would probably pay much more to get my hands on it. Just thinking about it while writing this makes me want to run over there and stuff my pie hole with it. Forget about argula riccotta or whatever the next hipster pizza place will be called that will draw all the food bloggers and food porn instagramers to its tables, all you need for the rest of your life is UFO pizza.
