Tacamole is nothing fancier than a TexMex foodcourt franchise, but boy does it make this American girl happy. It’s been almost three years since I’ve had decent TexMex. I’ve had really fantastic, authentic Mexican food in Warsaw(Ricos Tacos), but not TacoBellesque Chipotle doppelgänger burritos. In the last three days, I’ve eaten at Tacamole twice(both in the Arkadia and the Mokotow Shopping Centers), and I don’t think I’m going to stop. The franchise concept is almost identical to what we know as Chipotle in the States. It is a Subway-like food assembly line, where you can dictate a bespoke burrito to the helpful fast food workers standing behind the counter. As you point at one yummy morsels after another, they stuff it all into a big flour tortilla before wrapping in tin foil and handing it over. For starters, there are two kinds of rice(this is confusing because both kinds of rice look absolutely the same) and two kinds of beans. I like the black beans with cilantro(of course). Then you choose the meat(they also have a tofu and grilled peppers option for vegetarians) there is chicken or beef and you can get it shredded or in pieces. I like the shredded chicken. As for the delicious additional toppings there is shredded cheese, tomatos, corn, lettuce, sour cream, three different kinds of salsas ranging in spiciness, more cilantro, guacamole, and jalapenos. I get tomatos, lettuce, sour cream, medium salsa(it’s the green one), and cilantro. There are other menu options including tacos and quesadillas, but I’m too exicited about the burritos to focus on anything else. At the end you can ask for a bag of tortilla chips — and it’s literally the size of a bag of popcorn you’d get from the movies– for a low price. Probably the cheapest nachos in Warsaw. In the end, it’s about the taste. Tacamole burritos taste the way cheap American style burriots should. If you’re an expat like me living in burrito limbo, this is the light at the end of the tunnel.
