The food-o-louge through the Balkan region continues with my cyclist friend continues. It was Nesebar, the Bulgarian restaurant on Marszałkowska. The place may look really small from outside, but there is seating downstairs. We settled in the quiet brick-walled interiors,(reminding me of the wine-cellars) and probably an ideal place for a relaxed dinner table conversation. My friend(who recommended this place) also recommended the food —(and I am so very glad that I didn’t intervene). We ordered 2 starters — fries with the Bulgarian Cheese sirene and a Czuszka biurek — Red Pepper with Cheese filling. Drinks — white chardonnay wine and wheat beer. The sirene cheese topping with the fries was slightly on the frugal side, but we probably licked every shred possible. The pepper starter was equally tantalizing! Main course choices for chicken eaters is easy,(understandably!) I ordered the Chicken with spinach — fillet of chicken breast in cheese sirene and cream sauce with spinach, salad, extras. You can choose this to be served with fries or rice and I choose rice. My friend choose Pork Fillet by Monastyr(Pork loin with sirene cheese served with chili, salad and fries.) I devoured my food at surprising speed. The slightly salty cheese, was a perfect combination with the brown rice and the well cooked chicken. The pork dish was equally living up to its reputation. If at all, we were forced to complain, the only one would have been that given that the menu showed a spicy symbol, the food itself was not so spicy. The chardonnay and wheat beer played their roles in making the meal wholesome. We decided for desserts(for a change given that usually have not ordered this so frequently) — Baklava and Caramel cream. The Baklava, in isolation with the donuts and the sugar syrup was slightly sweet for me. The lemon/orange did the balancing act. My caramel was simply perfect though with the mild cream. It’s the perfect sweetness, leaving you wanting for just a little more, the ideal level of romanticism with your palate. A note on the economics — Starters — ranged between 10−15pln, main courses — 25−40pln, desserts– 10−15pln. The htotal bill was just less than 150pln(2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 desserts, and 5 drinks). Come here for the fine dining relaxed experience, its worth every penny!
