I popped into Pecks for the first time yesterday. The girls behind the counter were patient with me as I carefully made my decision as to what sweet treat I was going to buy, eat and review… it came down to the traditional American chocolate brownie for less than $ 3.00. Although I am a traditionalist, preferring my choc brownies with nuts usually, this one was pretty bloody good. It was fresh (always a good start!), crunchy on the outside and gooey soft-​fudge-​like in the middle. It was a pretty decent size too; I have a sweet toot but still had to stop half way and give myself a break before continuing! Boldly displayed on the window it is written that this bakery has won awards (quite a few years back), for ‘European bread’, croissants and most recently for their quiche.

This is one of those bakeries that is totally okay for a random visit but not the kind that you want to make your weekly go to.
There is an abundance of great pasties and breads and filled rolls and pies for selection. It is what you expect from any old bakery.
And the staff are really nice there too.
However the stuff isn’t like made of gold or anything.
It will fill you up but it won’t make you linger for more. Well it didn’t for me anyway.
I only come here when I’m on my way somewhere and if it is the closest bakery at the time, or if I’m looking for more than one of something, because I know they are likely to have a few things of each whereas other bakeries tend to run out of stuff.

We love the pizza bread from Pecks Cottage Bakery, always included on the list when we pop in for supplies.
Their bread rolls are nice for lunches, their French Sticks are delicious eaten fresh, their pies are reportedly some of the best around going by the teenager’s recommendation.
Lots of choice at Pecks for sweet treats and I suggest they may have the best chocolate brownie and chocolate caramel slice in town. A superb range of cakes, slices and sweet apple pies are always available.
Have a chat to the girls about your birthday cake as they do take special orders and they have a range of novelty cake tins for hire.
