Established in 2004.

Kiwi Disposals has more than 20 years experience in the Army Surplus business bringing the very best military surplus from around the world to our customers.

We have grown from our beginnings in a small warehouse servicing wholesale only customers, to having two outstanding retail stores servicing the cities of Christchurch and Auckland, and a huge new warehouse servicing our network of retailers, wholesalers, internet and mail order customers here in New Zealand and Internationally.

Unfortunately, our Christchurch store is down due to 100% destruction in the 2011 earthquake.

If it is good enough to promote survival in war time conditions it should get you through your camping trip. It amazes me that the price of clothing does not correlate to how practical the clothing may be — Kiwi Disposals exists as an antidote to expensive designer clothing stores who sell clothes which are not comfortable and which do not necessarily keep you warm. This is the place to come to for sweet jackets. I bought a jacket, originally intended for infantry use, which has so much style that people are always asking me where I bought it. It is also super practical, ridiculous amounts of pockets, lite, warm, durable, and water proof. It cost me like $ 100.

I remember when I was in a fully torqued Clan playing counterstrike, me and my friend used to come here and try on different uniforms trying to recreate the look of the counter-​terrorists. Unfortunately, two 15 year olds trying on shirts that used to be worn by actual «men» doesn’t quite have the desired effect. So we would usually buy some small piece of memorabilia, look at all the knives, then head on out to K Road and get an iced frappé.
The other day, hoping I had crossed the threshold into an «actual man,» I wandered into Kiwi Disposals — or as I like to call it, «the army shop.» Unfortunately, the above still held true. I guess they don’t really have too many small SAS men with a distinct lack of muscles. This shop is a good place to grab an army jacket or something, whether for a dress up party, or if you live your life as a dress up party.

The first time I went shopping here, my father picked up an ornate hip flask from the Stalin era. It was perfectly looked after both in the past and by the staff at Kiwi Disposals, who seemed genuinely disappointed to see it go.
Since then, I’ve spent a few bucks every few years to get a satchel from this place. Anything that’s durable enough for an army is durable enough of university. The range of bags and uniforms here are from all over the world, and interesting to look through even if you’re not going to buy something.
If you’re into clothes with German flags on the shoulders or a full body suit for your next outing as a sniper, this is the place for you too.

Yes. This is where you need to go to buy inactive grenades and really really sick knives. Old bullet canisters and military canteens. Heavy pant. Heavy jackets. Heavy boots. Heavy everything.
I like just cruising around Kiwi Disposals. Isn’t there something really terrific about trying on a shirt that used to be worn by some Swedish army jobber?! I think Kiwi disposals is a great place to go if you want to buy sturdy, hardy items of clothing. Their pants are really really great. They just go on and on and on and on and best of all they’re super inexpensive. They have these amazing Italian navy shoes for about $ 15! They have a lot of really cool things.

It’s that army surplus shop on K’Rd. You’ve been past it. While a lot of it will only appeal to extremely outdoorsy types (camo netting) or oddballs (WWII memorabilia), they also have things like packs, boots, jackets and other clothes for quite reasonable prices. I got a light cotton jacket for $ 15 bucks and it’s lasted for years. The fact that it has Dutch flags on the arms is neither here nor there. They also sell things like old gas masks which, while not really useful as such, would be a great addition to a props or dress-​up box. Or just look awesomely badass hanging on your wall.
