We are a tea shop with around 300 specialty teas as well as tea accessories and tea gifts. We are also in independent book shop specialising in romance fiction books.

History

Established in 2005.

The Mt Eden store started as the home of Auckland’s original specialty tea shop in 1995. Since the Chapter Book & Tea Shop took over the business in 2005, the range of teas and tea suppliers has grown substantially.

Meet the Business Owner

Frances L.

Business Owner

Frances is the owner of the Chapter Book and Tea Shop. Frances and her cousin Christina have operated this business since 2005. The shop’s retail specialties are teas, tea accessories and romance fiction books. Prior to going in to business, Frances worked in the finance industry for 20 years in Auckland, New York and Sydney. However, after seven years overseas, she returned to Auckland. Frances also decided it was time for a career change, and to return to her family roots of retailing. The Loo family have run a fruit and vegetable retail and wholesale business in Mt Eden for more than 50 years, but Frances has always had a passion for romance books. She purchased the Tea Time Café which was a few doors along from the Loo family business in 2005. Frances kept the tea business — which was well-​established — and expanded it. She also added a romance book business. Frances is a member of the Mt Eden Village Business Association and of Rotary Mt Eden.
