Been here a few times, always great! Can be a bit pricey but well worth the experience of dining there. Oysters are wonderful and second for me would be the chicken breast. All great dishes, friendly staff and pleasant ambience recommended

I don’t know whether it’s because we bought the grabone for the degustation or they are generally this slow at serving the 6 course meal… We were seated promptly for our reservation at 7.30, got handed our degustation menu and the iPad menu but had to wait a looooong time to order our drinks and then again to order the main choices. However the waitress was very friendly, nice and professional. we were starving at the very beginning but each of the first 3 courses came so slow that we were full on the third(these are very small portions too… so this wouldn’t have happened if they came on time) the main was served after 9pm… And still two more after that. We were nearly the last to leave the restaurant and boy did my back hurt. It was very uncomfortable to be sitting in an uncomfortably warm space for that long… Or my body is aging faster than my real age. Let’s start from the very first course… The soup was delicious and creamy; the goat cheese was a weird surprise; the venison with salted chocolate and espresso jelly was way too artistic for my taste buds… as the chocolate was too overpowering that the whole dish tasted more like a dessert to me; finally the fourth course(the main) arrived. he ordered the lamb rack in medium rare but was cooked to medium and needed more flavour… I ordered the salmon which was under seasoned and underwhelming… the risotto under my salmon was not the right consistency… Was still grainy… Neither of us finished as we were too full and it didn’t taste as good as we expected; next was a deliciously warm pudding served with ice cream and an overly sweet mandarin butterscotch sauce; to finish it all up… A board of 3 cheese, crunchy apple slices, crackers and bread. I think we left at 9.45 with two more tables inside waiting to finish up. I had a degustation at another restaurant before and it was amazing with all 8 courses so I was slightly disappointed with this one. I’m not sure whether it’s because we bought the grabone for this meal… So they treat/serve us differently compared to full paying customer? Even the grabone isn’t cheap. $ 160… So $ 80pp for a 6 course degustation like that isn’t worth it… And that’s discounted already… Only half of the courses(or maybe just 2) were good…

Such a great place love the use of the IPad mini for a menu, we found the staff friendly and service fast. The restaurant and a professional but warm feel and the see through floor showing off the extensive wine cellar is a interesting twist. The degastion menu has to be one of the best in Auckland and we can’t wait to give it another try soon as the wine matching was spot on. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes fine wine and fine food with a slight modern twist.

This restaurant is a personal favourite of mine and I was so pleased to see that it made it into the Metro Top 50 list this year after falling short the past couple of years. It really does deserve to make it in because every time I have been here it has been consistently good. It is fine dining and is very expensive so naturally I expect high quality and delicious food and they really do deliver. This isn’t the kind of place you would come to on a whim, it’s a celebration kind of place. Their mains all sit around the $ 40 mark and their entrée’s around $ 20. On their menu they recommend the perfect wine to match each and every dish which I find incredibly helpful because I know nothing about wine. I’m not usually a big meat eat but I love the rack of lamb here, especially when paired with the cabernet jus. For dessert I always get their crème brulee as it is my absolute favourite dessert and not that many restaurants offer it, and if they do it’s certainly not at the quality of this place. Parking is a little tricky, if you are lucky you will find something out the front otherwise you will have to park on a side street and walk. If you are into fine dining and really delicious quality meat you have to try this place, go on treat yourself.
