I came here when I first moved to Auckland and had a to get blood tests for my immigration medical exam. The first time I arrived, I had been fasting and just wanted to get it over with. Then the woman informed me that she needed to confirm who I was by showing them my passport. I forgot it and had to go all the way home and then back again on an empty stomach. I must say the people I dealt with in here were absolutely great, very friendly and made me feel at ease. I generally don’t feel too much at ease when I am getting blood as I have deep veins and it’s often hard for them to find a suitable one. I went to one place in Ireland who poked and prodded me for about fifteen minutes before he was successful — a horrible experience. So I was relieved when the woman here found the vein easily enough and got the required sample. I think when it comes to medical stuff, you should always go somewhere you trust and I would have trust in the staff here.

Not many people are probably keen on having blood drawn. I don’t mind it and I had to come here several times last year and the previous year to sort out some nutrient deficiencies which required multiple blood tests. Firstly the opening times are great, come before uni, before work and the wait times are not bad. Longest I ever waited was 15 minutes. Plus they have magazines here if you need to have your mind taken off the fact some stranger will be shoving a needle in your arm in about 10 minutes. The staff here are very good at what they do, you barely feel anything at all, even one time where 5 tubes of blood were taken, he kept the needle so still, even when changing the tubes. I was so impressed. Plus they talk to you, probably told to in order to distract people, but none the less, very friendly. I never had a non friendly blood sucker take my blood. There are two other labtest labs closer to where I live that I could go to but I will just come here if I need to again as I like it here that much.
