I found Kyou Sushi by chance and what a gem. The food is delicious! It’s a small shop in a strip mall with mostly Asian shops. The sashimi is thick and fresh. The sushi is delicious and made to order so the rice is soft. We also tried the hot dishes. The salmon fried rice is light and tasty. I don’t know how they cook fried rice with no oil! The katsu chicken is crispy and just right. It’s a great find and I visited this shop multiple times during our visit to New Zealand.
It is a family owned restaurant and the owners are friendly and always have a smile for you. After you are done, there is a bakery right next door with cheap goodies that are great for long road trips exploring the beauty of New Zealand.
I definitely recommend giving it a try!
