Lemongrass chicken salad was a dream. Great casual lunch atmosphere. The chicken infused with lemongrass was juicy. It was glaised with a tangy lemon flavours. Perfect crunch with the mung beans and red cabbage. A Star dish and weight watchers beware

An indie rocker buddy of mine lives down this way and Hum Café (formerly Palm Café) is our favoured spot to grab a coffee on a cloudy day and discuss our latest music purchases, debate philosophy, and moan about how much we hate the government. For all of these things, Hum is perfect. For one, it’s got a fantastic upstairs balcony round the back which offers an all-​encompassing panoramic view right through from the islands of the Gulf to the cones of Devonport, the inner harbour, the CBD and the Harbour Bridge beyond. Gorgeous. Coffee is top notch too. Somehow it’s a wee bit unknown which is nice — it means all those intense debates can go on up on the balcony without fear of people listening in and thinking we’re nuts!
