Hoyts Botany Downs

I must admit I do not go to the cinema as often as I used too. This places has had quite a few changes in name of the years. Was my first time here under the Hoyts name. The seating was comfortable, the staff were still cleaning from the previous session. They could have held back a few minutes before letting us in to give them a chance to finish.
For me the most surprising thing was having paid $ 20 for a ticket, they wanted extra for 3D glasses, and then extra to book online.

Discovered this place because it was local to where a friend of mine used to live. It is always extremely quiet here, so much so that I wonder how they stay in business, seriously, every time we go here it is totally dead. Its relative unpopularity comes in very handy, if there is some big blockbuster just been released, we always opt for the Botany Downs Hoyts — guaranteed to get a good seat. One of the last times I was there they had a fire drill where everyone had to evacuate to the street, so we had a very annoying 30 min interval during our movie. Not fair to criticize them for that I suppose, better the odd inconvenience than to have a theater of crispy corpses.

Being partial to more crowded cinemas, I only come to Botany if their screening times are more convenient than going to Sylvia Park. Its a great cinema, just not an overly busy one and that’s credited to the fact that the Botany area can be a little out of the way for most. Hoyts is situated right in the middle of Botany Town Centre’s food court, so its not hard to miss, but its also close to the two of the major carparks in the centre, so there’s no need to wade through the mall to get there.
The cinema itself is modern and the staff are always friendly. One of the benefits of being a quieter cinema is that its pretty well-​kept and the noise levels are tolerable. Most of their cinemas are much smaller that what you’d find at Sylvia Park, but Botany does also offer an Xtreme Screen, which always makes that movie experience a bit better.
Hoyts as a company remain pretty expensive with their movie snacks for purchase so I’d suggest investing in a Hoyts card to collect points, and eventually, free stuff.

A great place if you’re looking for luxurious comfort, big seats and clean, classy cinemas. This joint has changed its name so many times, it’s hard to keep up. Berkeley, Reading and now Hoyts. It’s quality of service and comfort has not changed though, as they always keep a high standard of almost everything. Once I had the pleasure of enjoying the Circle Lounge: a place for people with big wallets and gourmet tastes, with its lazy boy seats and little lamps between them. They’ll serve you anything you like, including a great range of wines.
My only let down with them is the continuously high prices, but that seems to be the case for many cinemas. I tend to go on a cheap Tuesday or in the morning when prices are $ 11 instead of $ 17. Otherwise, I really can’t complain! It’s a great place to watch the latest blockbusters.
