Went here for a friend’s birthday on Boxing Day. Food and service was pretty good and the décor is pretty standard for the type of restaurant it is. Price is reasonable and decent portion size. They’ve got a lunch menu and dinner menu both of which can be ordered all day and are more defined by portion size than when they can be ordered. This is handy as you can eat family style or a la carte. I had the Malaysian Mee Fried noodles, tried my as did my friend’s chicken curry/roti(both delicious) and other friends had most of the starters which looked and smelled fantastic. The only real problem was that it was a sunny evening(around 7pm) the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. Also, one of the starters was forgotten and served after we had finished our food. The menu has a good range but not many vegetarian options, although I have the feeling they would accommodate such requests. They would really benefit from a few outdoor tables and hope that happens soon! Oh and like the other review the fish’s head is really enormous! Giving 3 stars at the moment until I can try more of the menu as my noodles were a bit drenched in sauce but squid cooked perfect.

We meant to try out the roast place next door. But they decided tonight(22nd Dec Monday night) was not going to be a trading night. So we stumbled with grumbly tummies next door to Gu Xiang Malaysian. In the mood for roast still my fellow diner opted for the roast chicken on rice… despite my suggestions of Hainan chicken, because when in Rome. I felt like something a little less subtle, opting for the kung pow pork. Both options served on rice arrived to the table very speedy, potions generous and piping hot. The service was efficient, non intrusive and attentive. My dish was on the salty side presented with big chunky dried chilly, ginger and onion. It was flavorful and rustic. The roast chicken was simple and tasty in a light soy gravy. This is a nice neighborhood drop in, well priced and plenty of parking. Plus… Check out the impressively fugly fish in the tank in the corner. Apparently he is crazy aggressive but good luck… We left behind reading glasses on the table and the owner sent her son out to make sure we didn’t leave without them! Nice touch!
