This place here is a gem in the Henderson, a good place to have breakfast or brunch. I was happy when I saw it on a day when I was starving and craving pancakes so I decided it was a good time for a friend and I to have a catch up and to also satisfy my cravings. I had the blueberry pancakes and he had the big breakfast. The blueberry pancakes had the nicest cream plus the pancakes were crispy on the outside then soft and fluffy in the centre. I of course had a few bites from his big breakfast and I almost ordered the big breakfast to add to it but I decided it wasn’t a good idea.

One of the signs of a good barista is being able to hold friendly and engaging conversation while making coffee. The staff member at Espresso Addiction obviously had a large coffee order but was able to take my order, my money and have a little laugh about the long weekend while doing her job. It conveys a feeling of skill and confidence to the waiting customer. The small brick café has a really relaxing atmosphere about it. It is only a shame the espresso itself was on the watery side, not quality enough for a true addict. And they need to get rid of their exaggerated footpath cake stand with painted wooden cakes that looks straight out of the 80’s. Espresso Addiction has the potential to be the best café in Henderson.

My girlfriend works nearby and when I was out that ways on Friday we decided to head there for a coffee in her lunch break so she could show me what she’d been raving about, and I’m really glad we did! The first thing that struck me was the little signs around saying things like ‘The 12 step chocolate program: Never be more than 12 steps from chocolate’ or ‘Life is too short to drink bad wine’ which I have to agree is pretty well founded life advice, good to have around! The staff were awesome too, I ordered an iced mocha, and halfway through the lady from behind the counter came over with another half glass worth and gave it to me for free, as since she was pregnant she couldn’t finish it off like normal, haha! Only one thing to note is that they only have one omelette maker, so if you go there in a group and lots of people want omelettes, it may take a little while coming, but if you’re in no rush, it’s definitely a great place to check out.

I was recommended this café by my husband who works out that way, «great coffee, nice service and they sell home made lil’ cakes» — ok, lets go! And he was right, onya hubby! It is great to see a unique, cool café in Henderson, a spice up for the area. The place isn’t heaps spacious, but ok for a small group of friends if meeting for a catch up over coffee, or if flying solo there are tables small and intimate enough just to read the paper on your own over lunch. The café is less than five minutes walk from Westfield Westcity shopping mall. It is not open on Sunday’s though — so don’t make the mistake like I did and go there for the first time in presumption; actually not much at all was open on a Sunday, very quiet trade all around.
