Food was good, me and the partner was satisfied. Parking was a mission and the food was overpriced. Think it’s because me and the partner are not chinese and cannot read mandarin/Cantonese on the sheet of paper AND when I asked for a receipt so I could look at how much everything was, They just gave me a piece of paper that says«LUNCH» «$ 31.90» Really? That much for 4 little plates of dim sum. I came here because reading other people’s reviews, they said it was cheap and cheerful. Obviously not for people who aren’t chinese! Not coming here again. Even though the food was great, it’s not worth the price.

Though not my favourite place for dim sum in Auckland, it is still pretty great. The food is always delicious, though I would argue that it is not as good as HKD in Mt Roskill. One major thing I have noticed after going here over the last few years is that the clientele has defiantly been changing. Two years ago you would be lucky to see another westerner in here, but it has garnered a reputation and seems to have become a lot more popular with europeans. Thankfully this has not inflated the price(yet), which is still very reasonable. For four people(note we did not get of the expensive roast duck or crispy pork) it cost $ 13 each and we absolutely stuffed ourselves. The major downside for this place, and why I have given it 3 rather than 4 stars is that the parking can be an absolute nightmare. You have to do a bit of a drive around the back streets off great south road, which often means a small walk. Don’t even bother with their car park is not worth it, and impossible to get in and out off. Regardless, if you are looking for a cheap and authentic dim sum, that is used to having westerners(most of their staff speak very good english), then this is a great place in central to try out.

The parking for this place is an absolute pain in the backside, as it’s just off the very busy Great South Rd, but also because you have to contend with other restaurants nearby. However, once parked, you walk on up and find yourself wandering into downtown Beijing. People everywhere, but mostly Asian. You know a Chinese restaurant is good when actual Chinese people go there, and it’s about right with this place. I went here to my friend’s birthday dinner, and found myself one of two caucasians in the place. The waiter was so busy staring at me, he spilled my soup. But hey, it tasted good! If you know your asian delicacies well, you will find it easy to navigate this menu. If not, I would highly recommend anything with the word ‘roast duck’ in it. It’s one of the best I’ve tasted.
