I saw this place about a year ago thanks to their comically misspelled sign, «Kings Dumpl.» I made a mental note to check this place out and when my partner and I were in the Mt Eden neighbourhood for an impromptu date we decided to check it out in hopes of being another hole in the wall gem. I secretly had hopes of it being the next hot spot for dumplings. Unfortunately there was a reason why the restaurant was dead while its neighbouring Chinese restaurants were thriving. The menu offered a good range of dumpling flavours, and we tried Pork and Chive and Beef and Celery. They were cooked ok(one fried/one steamed), but the filling suffered dearly from some 3rd degree freezer burn. As much as I tried to overlook it, the texture and flavour were just too affected. The dry-fried beans were good, but the portion was small compared to other places of the same price and the staff were nice enough. It wasn’t absolutely terrible but was pretty uninspiring.
