When you are around Takapuna area and have no idea what to have for dinner, then Botticelli is a nice option. As an Italian food-holic, I must say that this won’t let you down except you should possess great patience while waiting for your food to come. Just sit down, have a sip of some Prosecco or Peroni, set your nerve at ease. If you are starving, then better not come here. From the entrée to Pasta and Pizza, even the main course, all the items on the menu is quite Italian. Calamari with veggie salad is delightful to start, something chewy by the tongue, something not too guilty for your stomach. As for the pasta, which is what we are here looking for, I always choose the basic but classic one-Spaghetti Bolognese. Dense flavor from the beef mince, combined nicely with tomato sauce with a bit of Parmesan cheese and parsley, just hearty on both the taste bud and mind. It warms you up! And what is more, Fettuccine alla panna is a choice never go wrong. Smoked bacon, mushroom, cream… That’s the rule of being delicious. Al dente is for the fettuccine, savory is for the sauce, homey&simple is for the whole plate. Well, Tiramisu is just left for next time’s imagination, and Pizza Margarita as well. Or maybe try every pasta on the menu. Just wish next time they put on some proper music for the scenery. It will be more helpful for the ambience.

Food was really nice, don’t expect to be full from just a main course though. Reasonable prices, and good and friendly service. It was almost full when we were there, and because of that rather loud. Don’t go there for a quiet dinner with two.

My work colleagues and I came here for the boss’ birthday dinner recently. I was very impressed with the warm, cosy, and welcoming atmosphere. We had the pizza bread to share, and it was just so yum. I had the main size cannelloni and it was a generous size. The pasta was beautiful. My friend had the pizza and she was really happy with it. I had the chocolate mousse for dessert. It was really yummy as well. We were introduced to limoncello, and I think I now have a new favourite drink/shot! The whole dining experience was really lovely. I plan to take my family there soon, especially with their ‘kids under 10 eat free from their kids menu’ offer on Sundays! :)

I came here with a friend quite a while ago. We wanted good food and a genuine catch up. I chose Italian because I love my pasta. Inside there is a wonderful, cosy vibe about the place. It feels very welcoming like you are right at home and free to relax and enjoy your meal. If you can find your way around the names of the dishes you will see they are quite well priced. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and was very happy sipping my wine and enjoying the atmosphere. Writing this has reminded me I’m very eager to return!

Located two minutes from the beach on Takapuna’s popular Anzac Street strip, Botticelli offers authentic Italian cuisine at very reasonable prices. Naturally, it’s all about the pizza and the pasta, but there’s plenty of other stuff on the menu including tasty antipasto starters. Went along with my in-laws a while back and had a lovely evening — had a big plate of spaghetti bolognese with a nice white and it was delicious. My favourite thing though was the relaxed family vibe of the place. Many places as good as this almost make you feel bad for daring to bring kids in — here they’re very welcoming and love having the big families in. Good for family birthdays and catchups.
