What a hidden gem ! Great and cheap food! We got the katsu curry and the katsu donburi and they were simply amazing. It was $ 12 for one and $ 13 for the other but I gotta say that was heaps of food. I loved the fried chicken with their yay bbq sauce, the salad was really nice and the curry… So good. Spicy and warm, perfect for the rainy night! The tempura was like little pieces of heaven, specially the kumara tempura. Definitely going back to try all the others tasty dishes. ** the cheese seafood noodles looks delicious!

How good is a Bento Box? You get all the good bits of Sushi that you usually wouldn’t bother thinking about ordering, all packaged up in an easy to carry container. Bentto does the best I’ve had in Auckland — and the price is exactly what you want to be spending. They also sell all the other varieties that your usual Sushi shop does– rolls, noodles as well as some interesting desserts. This isn’t the cheapest option if you want to be picking different sushi options — I’d recommend heading up to Umiya Sushi if you really want to get bang for your buck, but when it comes to Bento Boxes, this place does them the best. And you’d hope so too — it is in their name after all.

This used to be my regular lunch choice during uni, when I was feeling flush enough to buy anything at all. They used to have $ 5 packets of sushi made up of a variety of(mostly) meat-based rolls which was a pretty good deal in my eyes. They’ve recently had a bit of a facelift and they don’t seem to be doing pre-packaged sets of sushi(Sets? Combos? Gaggles? What’s the collective noun for sushi?) anymore. However given the size of their rolls and the prices($ 1-$ 1.20 per piece), five or six bucks will still get you a decent lunchtime feed. Their food is fresh and there’s a good variety of interesting fillings. My only complaint would be that there isn’t much in the way of vegetarian options, either in the sushi or the donburi menu.
