Auckland’s Whale and Dolphin Safari

Do not recommend this cruise what so ever. If you have over supplied on tickets then you should provide at least double the food. Fundamental hospitality concept. What is the purpose of advertising dinner/​BBQ cruise if you cannot even provide that part of the experience. Tour around the auckland harbours was nice. Crew was ok.

Yes, this I would probably rate one of the must do activities to experience in Auckland if you are both tourist or local. When you get a good day, catch sight of enough dolphins and the odd whale, take full advantage of the knowledge of the crew and enjoy the beauty of being out in the gulf itself it is a wonderful fantastic experience. For around 4 and a half hours escape the city and enjoy the peace, tranquility and beauty of the gulf. All for only $ 160 for adult, $ 105 for kids and if you got a family (2 adults, 2 kids) it is $ 399. A good saving. The crew give you a decent safety briefing before taking off, with the warning of keeping a good eye on any young ones who may be apt to run around and the promise of if they are not controlled they will end up having to stay in one place for the whole trip. There is a small bar on board where you can get a drink or a little snack to eat, and plenty of information scattered around the boat to tell you about the wildlife out there on the ocean and what you may or may not see. The skipper fills you in on what they look out for to find where there may be dolphins or whales, and they and the rest of the crew, are always open to questions. So ask away!!! The first time we went out we saw practically zero number of dolphin so, as is the case when this happens they give you a voucher to return for the experience sometime within the next year. So if you are from overseas and really want to do it again it will incur the extra cost of airfares, hotels etc. On the second time we went out we saw a lot of dolphin and a whale. That was fantastic! So if you are ever in Auckland put this at the top of your to do list. And enjoy!!!

I could not recommend this safari enough to anyone!!!
My girlfriend who was over from Melbourne wanted to see if New Zealand was all it was said to be. We decided to go on the Auckland Whale and Dolphin Safari. Based down in Aucklands Viaduct, it is very centrally located. It is $ 160 for an adult, $ 105 for children between the ages of 5 – 15, and free for those under the age of 5.
Roughly expected to be 4.5 hours long and leaving at 1:30pm (same time daily), we came prepared with cameras, drink bottles, sunscreen and snacks to eat. There is also a fully equipped bar on board where you can purchase snacks if you get a little hungry.
Due to the incredible weather we started heading out towards Great Barrier and there we saw WHALES and DOLPHINS, along with a wide range of sea birds. It was phenomenal! Both Jamie and I were absolutely gob smacked to see such incredible creatures so close!
Alyssa, Tony and Skip did a wonderful job accommodating us all on the boat, informing us of our gorgeous surrounds, the marine life we were witnessing and even rubbing backs for those who felt a little seasick.
This adventure is worth every cent! They also have a policy that if they feel you have not seen enough on their adventure they’ll give you a gift card to come out on the boat again. But please note it does not include, flights, accommodation or transport to/​from the boat. :-P
