Happening on November 3rd2013 The Auckland Marathon happens every year and is the highlight on many people’s sporting calendars. The coolest thing about this Marathon is that you run across the Auckland Harbour Bridge. There is the Full and the Half marathon and you can get across the bride by doing either walking or running, you just have to get there before the time cut off. The run starts in Devonport and ends up in Victoria Park. It tales you up Lake Road through Belmont and Takapuna, and then to Northcote where you get on the motorway. After you get off the bridge you wrap around under it and then around the waterfront roads before coming to at Victoria Park. This was the hardest part for me because every corner you think is going to be the last one! My friends and I did it together and stopped under the flags at the top of the bridge to do some push up, just cos we could. At the end there was a band playing and tents with food and music. I only did the half mind you. There are lot of hard out runners, but they separate themselves from the masses pretty early on. Most people are doing it for a bit of a challenge and in all seriousness — fun. And it is such a great feeling to have accomplished one of these. Entries are now open — go on, you’ll feel amazing.
