Rip Curl

My wife drags me to this place, usually at the beginning of summer to buy swimsuits and t shirts for the hot weather. I don’t know if it’s the clothes or the staff but the whole place makes me feel old and out of the place. I guess when you come from the other side of the world where the summers aren’t very good, it’s hard to relate to surfing culture. Some of the men t shirts look good but the thing is, they’re just not me. I can never understand why guys wear those t shirts with no sleeves — nobody wears them where I come from. Having said that, I did notice there was a really good selection of mens watches to choose from. I have a good watch but it was nice to browse at these really cool ones. I needed a satchel for Uni last year and found a good one at this store at a good price. Overall, a shop for the young, sporty types from the Southern Hemisphere.

This has to be my favourite outlet shop. Everything in here is highly reduced and there are actually more cool things than hideous things on the racks. I often worry at outlet shops thinking there will only be those real duds that no one bought and Rip Curl regretted making. But here there are all sorts of things both cheap and styley. When I came in yesterday I actually got a bit panicky. There were $ 5 racks to my left, $ 10 racks to my right and $ 15 straight ahead. I had to take a deep breath and begin my shopping. I found so many cool things and was actually grateful when some didn’t fit properly because it meant I wouldn’t spend as much money. The bikini bin has always been the best! It’s always a mish mash of styles and sizes and colours so don’t expect to put your hand in and pull out a great matching set. This bin is for those who get a thrill from the hunt. Because hidden in there somewhere there is bound to be something in your size and colour! But even if you can’t find that… coming away with some essential black bikini bottoms for $ 5 is still bloody brilliant!
