I really wish I could give this place a two and a half star rating. I don’t want to give it two because that would imply that I didn’t like it, but then again, giving it three seems far to generous. The place is probably about the most average café I’ve ever eaten in. Everything from the service to the food to the décor was just (for want of a better word) meh.
I popped in to grab a quick sandwich at lunchtime and, to their credit, the range they had was pretty vast (pitas, wraps, Vogels sandwiches and rolls) but all of the fillings were pretty samey; the choice either being ham, chicken or salad in each one. I opted for a chicken pita and it was, you guessed it, average; packed full of stuff but just a bit flavourless.
I get that it’s not trying to be Auckland’s hippest or best eaterie. It is what it is: a cheap place to grab a quick lunch, snack and coffee. I just wish it did it with a bit more character.
