When I approached the building I felt a bit intimidated, since it’s quite a large and impersonal building. Once I got in though, it was all lovely! The hallways and main areas are all very open and spacious. The concert/event halls all have a different layout to them, making Tivoli Vredenburg pretty much perfect for any event(Talks, presentations, concerts, dance events). The bar staff were all incredibly friendly, helpful and up for a chat. I worked here as a volunteer the last two days so my experience might have been a bit different from coming here as a visitor, but as someone who’s been to most of the concert venues here in the Netherlands, I would really recommend this place.

Ok. It hurt a little that the«old» Tivoli had to go. Nostalgia. Saw so many bands there. But now, here’s the larger version. And it’s actually great. I love the café underneath, which serves good stuff with enthusiasm. When you arrive a little early, be sure to get a beer there. Next, the concert halls are very well done. I must say the sound differs very much per band(I’ve only seen Lacuna Coil, Kasabian and Jethro Tull up to now) so it’s hard to judge, but I do love how central the place is and is finally able to attract larger acts as well. So yes. I am a fan and can’t wait to see more of my fav acts over there!

We attended the Dutch Game Garden’s annual Indigo event which was held in the goliath Vrebdenburg. It’s certainly quite the change from the old building with a broad, wide-open atrium up the centre of the building and a feeling of opulence. Our event was held on the 9th floor(zaal Cloud 9), and the space strongly reminded me of Tivoli de Helling on the outskirts of town. Very similar size, though obviously the new venue doesn’t feel quite the same level of rough and ready as de Helling. Maybe it’s easy to describe it as the gentrified Helling. On the whole I’m not sure how much I’d want to watch a band there, but as an events and conference space it seems great.
