Here is a good spot to nibble on pure, freshly prepared fish dishes in an unpolished tavern like they do in enchanting coastal villages. Restaurant KAAP is a newcomer to the square but with historical roots in Rotterdam and France. Deli Restaurant Z&M is its bigger sister and certainly knows the ropes. And why France you ask? nBecause the owners took their inspiration from la Cale, a restaurant in Normandy which has declared itself the worst restaurant in the region or even in France at large. But really, La Cale is one of those perfect hide-outs. But hey, an 8 hour drive for some fish is a bit silly so we happily gorge on the menu in KAAP and pretend to have our feet in the sand. You can come here on a first date, a second or third even, why the hell not? What’s not to like? Come here with colleagues, friends or your folks. It is one of those places that manages to be intimate and anonymous at the same time with an open kitchen and relaxed service. They offer a good wine list to wash away the feast and make sure your night is off to a good start, or finish. As seen on I Know This Great Little Place in Rotterdam( )
