Efteling

Efteling ist — besonders für Bewohner der niederrheinischen Tiefebene — ein durchaus häufiges Ausflugsziel. Früher als Kind war ich häufig mit meinen Eltern da, aber hatte eher wenig Erinnerungen daran. Jetzt, wo ich selber Kinder habe, bin ich jedes Jahr mindestens zweimal dort.
Efteling ist einfach toll. Soviel Liebe zum Detail, soviel Authentizität und eine unübertroffene Symbiose zwischen Natur und Freizeitpark findet man wirklich selten. Dadurch, daß der Park schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel hat, konnten die Bäume, die dort anfangs gepflanzt wurden, zu stattlicher Größe heranwachsen.
Es ist nahezu unmöglich, eines der vielen Fahrgeschäfte, Häuser, Schlösser und sonstigen Bauwerke zu fotografieren, ohne auch Natur mit auf dem Bild zu haben.
Deswegen ist es auch wunderschön, durch diesen Park zu flanieren, überall gibt es Möglichkeiten, sich zu setzen, im Sommer darf man sogar auf den Wiesen picknicken.
Was Efteling von anderen Freizeitparks unterscheidet (z.B. Disneyland) ist die fühlbare Energie, die in die Gestaltung und in das «Erlebnis» gesteckt wird. Man merkt, daß die Menschen, die hier im Park arbeiten, das gerne tun und Spaß haben.
Ganz im Gegensatz zu Disneyland Paris, wo man meistens in gelangweilte, mürrische Gesichter von schlecht bezahlten Saisonarbeitskräften schaut.
Die Attraktionen sind toll. Insbesondere für Kinder zwischen 3 und 8 Jahren, würde ich meinen.
Sehr viele Märchenelemente, insbesondere der riesige Märchenwald ist für die kleinen Kinder ein Erlebnis.
Dazu gibt es verschiedene Achterbahnen: Vogel Roc im dunkeln, eine Stahl-​Achterbahn namens Python, eine Holz-​Achterbahn «Joris en de Draak», dann noch «De Vliegende Hollander» und ganz neu, «Baron 1898», eine Achterbahn, in der man am Anfang senkrecht nach unten fällt.
Dennoch sind es die anderen Attraktionen, die Efteling den Charme geben: Eine Bootsfahrt auf einem riesigen See. «De Droomflucht» — Die Traumreise zu Feen, Kobolden und Gnomen. Eine Bootsfahrt durch «Fata Morgana». Ein Spukschloß. Der Pandatraum (3D). Kannibalen. Clowns. Labyrinthe. Und, und, und.
Was wir uns auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen ist «Raveleijn» — eine Reise in die mittelalterliche Stadt gleichen Namens, in der der böse Herzog Olaf das Kommando übernehmen will. Nur fünf junge Helden treten ihm entgegen. Jedoch hat Olaf noch ein sehr großes feuriges Ass im Ärmel… Absolutes Spektakel. Grandiose Musik. Packende Geschichte. Unsere Jungs freuen sich jedes Mal total drauf.
Ein Tag reicht im Regelfall, um 90% des Parks abzuklappern, allerdings sollte man dazu schon etwas planen, zu welcher Zeit man wo sein möchte, denn auch wenn es nicht direkt so aussieht, die Wege sind doch schon ganz schön weit. Besonders mit kleinen Kindern, und ab spätestens 17 Uhr können die ja meistens nicht mehr laufen :-)
Dafür bieten sich dann extra Wägelchen an, die man am Eingang ausleihen kann.
Tip: Direkt zur Parköffnung da sein. Dann hat man den ganzen Tag Zeit.

Nada más divertido que un parque de atracciones y éste es demasiado genial.
Tuve la oportunidad de visitarlo dos veces, unos amigos belgas nos llevaron ya que se encuentra al sur de Holanda y sólo a una hora y media de donde ellos viven.
La primera vez que fui fue en verano pero nos tocó un día un poco lluvioso así que no había demasiada gente y la segunda vez en invierno, al Winter Efteling.
Fueron dos experiencias diferentes, en invierno todo esta muy decorado e iluminado, hay fogatas donde uno puede sentarse si siente frío, y añaden pistas para patinaje sobre hielo y demás, pero había un par de atracciones cerradas por mantenimiento.
Yo pude ir a todas las atracciones, empezando por el bosque de los cuentos de hadas, como Caperucita Roja, Rapunzel, los zapatos danzantes y otras historias.
Luego el carrusel que es lo más hermoso que existe, parecía antiguo y va realmente rápido!
Pasamos por Villa Volta al simulador y luego a todas y cada una de las montañas rusas, no podés perderte ninguna. Pude subir a barón, la más nueva, con una caída de 90°, increíble!
Subí a monsieur cannibal y no pude dejar de cantar su canción todo el día.
Luego el bobsleigh fue genial y por último subimos a la Fata Morgana.
Comimos dentro del parque y los precios si son un poco altos, pero es de esperarse.
No te podés perder un croquette out of the wall, típico de Holanda! Hay varias opciones para almorzar y también encontrás cosas como churros, waffles, crêpes y demás.
Lo único malo son las filas para las atracciones, son demasiado largas y más que todo para las montañas rusas así que paciencia, igualmente tenés la opción de la fila para single riders que siempre va más rápido.
Me encanta este lugar, y espero poder volver, es hermoso y muy pero muy divertido para toda la familia porque tiene muy buenas opciones para grandes y chicos.
Volvería mil veces!

AMO (con mayúsculas) a los parques de atracciones.
Nuestros amigos belgas nos llevaron de sorpresa a este parque, cruzando la frontera claramente. Se encuentra en el sur de Holanda y es el segundo parque de atracciones más visitado de Europa por detrás de Disney Paris, of course.
Según me contaron, empezó siendo un parque donde se podía hacer un recorrido por una especie de bosque donde ibas encontrando los personajes clásicos de las historias para niños, la caperucita roja, la gallina de los huevos de oro, y más de ese estilo de los hermanos Grimm. Bien del folklore europeo.
Ahora creció desorbitadamente (había embotellamiento en la autopista de tantos autos que iban al parque!), y cuenta con varias secciones, y puedes encontrar algunos simuladores y varias montañas rusas. Amo las montañas rusas.
Fuimos a un par (no todas) porque no llegamos muy temprano, anochecía temprano y había mucha gente haciendo fila. Entramos a una que puedes elegir entre dos equipos y compiten a ver quien hace el recorrido primero, nos dividimos y ganamos los azules, obviamente…
También fuimos a una que era bajo techo y a oscuras, también muy buena, había un loop que hicimos en la oscuridad, no lo vimos pero sí que se sintió. Luego anduvimos caminando por el bosque este de los cuentos que mencionaba antes y terminamos en un simulador de una casa embrujada que parecía que todo giraba y en un momento estabas con los pies en el techo de la casa. Bastante bueno…
Hubiese querido ir más temprano porque siento que me faltó medio parque y cosas que quería hacer, íbamos con bastante gente así que había que ceder un poco. La cantidad de gente en la fila no favorecía esto y perdíamos una hora casi esperando para 1 min de montaña rusa.
Punto en contra es que todo está en neerlandés, hay historias en los juegos y eso pero NO SE ENTIENDE UN POMO! Por lo demás…es un buen lugar para ir a pasar un día de montaña rusa en montaña rusa! Igual van 5 estrellas porque cualquier lugar que tenga buenas atracciones se lo merece.

This is a wonderful way to spend the day. Very well organized, not expensive, lots of variety, great rides.

Visited Efteling park on our journey in Amsterdam. Definitely not Disney but it is very fun for kids and adults. You can download their app and will help get around and navigate you also. It’s approx 1 ½ hours away from the heart of Amsterdam but what a beautiful drive. My kids and including myself and my wife loved it. Well worth a day to spend at Efteling. The cost is € 38 and a great deal. Enjoy !!!

The Efteling has taken the first place of my absolute totally favorite parks EVER.
The reasons for this number in the 100s!!! There are at least that many fun things to do and experience.
To attempt to sum up: there is a hotel if you wish to stay with family or friends; the wonderful early toddler rides in the separate area; the enchanting Fairy Tale Forest which is a delight to young and old (my family’s favorite part); the good food in various areas of the Efteling park (though not cheap); the more challenging rides as the ages of the visitors progress (which is not immediately visible from the way they have set uo the park but which you discover as you walk around); the boat ride when you prefer to take it down a notch; the train functions on that same level yet provides an overview all around the park; and on and on.
I will try to add more pictures here, as the Efteling is a prime example of how words cannot touch its reality: you really should experience its joy for young and old.

A Efteling, vous passer la porte du pays des contes de fées!
Vous vous impregnerez vite de la magie ambiante même si on est encore loin de celle de Disneyland Paris.
Toutefois Efteling peut clairement rivaliser!
Plusieurs coasters vous decoifferont!
Le hollandais volant, attraction qui combine coaster et aquatique né dure que quelques secondes mais vaut vraiment la peine de faire la file.
On y trouve aussi plusieurs attractions + calmes qui vous font voyager dans le pays des elfes ou des contes de fées. Notamment un petit parcours des contes de fées au milieu de la forêt!
Il y en a finalement pour tous les goûts!
Il y a plusieurs plaines de jeux et plusieurs endroits de restauration.
Un spectacle féerique a lieu en fin de journée.

This was an incredible experience, we took my Husbands, 4 year old, niece, we were as excited as she was! We stayed in the Assepoester (Cinderella) Suite and WOW!!! a child’s DREAM! With candy all over the place, a voice which tells you a tale every time you enter and leave the room! The Park was also incredible! You will need at least a FULL day to complete or maybe even 2 days! Its like walking through a fairytale book! It was fun being a kid again!!! Make it weekend trip!!!

I love the Efteling, always have, always will. Almost everything about it is perfection and I don’t know many people who disagree. However, the one thing I think we all can agree on is that the Efteling is just TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE!!! We always buy our tickets through some sort of promotion (Chocomel, Albert Heijn or even sometimes through work) but still end up paying around twenty eight Euros per ticket. Which is ridiculous!
What’s even more ridiculous is that you pay the same damn price during the «off season». This used to mean they would close the entire park down for a few weeks and do all the major maintenance work and while it’s a good thing that they are now open every single day of the year, it means they close rides down for maintenance while the park is open. That’s all fine, BUT they don’t mention it on their website all the time. For instance last time we went, there were only really two rides I could go on due to my pregnancy. We arrived there and found one of those two rides to be shut down for maintenance. Sh**. If I would have known, I wouldn’t have waisted sixty Euros on tickets.
For some reason the park was especially busy that day, which meant that I could only go on the other ride once as the line for it was about forty-​five minutes long. Very disappointing.
The food here is decent though. Usually we bring our own sandwiches and drinks, but every once in a while we’ll have something from the restaurant ‘t Witte Paard. The pricing there is fairly reasonable. The other restaurants however, like the Poffertjes restaurant and the Pannenkoekenhuis are $%(^$&(%* expensive. Which seems to be an added theme to the Efteling. The Efteling is a theme park of fairy tales and high pricing, but one thing you can’t deny is that even though it’s WAY overpriced, it’s a very magical place. Especially during Winter and even more so if you’re lucky enough to be here when it’s actually snowing. There’s nothing quite like it. And they know that. So they overcharge us. But the high prices do mean they lose a star.

Malgré une journée pluvieuse, je me suis rendue dans ce parc d’attraction et j’ai tout simplement adoré !
J’étais tel une enfant dans les attractions, les décors sont fabuleux et l’ambiance est féerique !
En fait, grâce à la pluie, il n’y avait presque pas de file pour les attractions, c’est vraiment pratique (le retour, trempé, l’est moins, d’accord.)
C’est tout simplement un parc à faire, amusement garantit !

I have come here since I was a young child. After a slow expansion in the 90’s the direction is now really going for gold to become the best entertainment park in Europe and though I am a Disney fan this company has nailed down their goals and are on par if not better than EuroDisney!

I’m American and ever since the first time I visited de Efteling, I’ve wanted to go back every single time I visit The Netherlands.
The art style of the park is very unique, bizarre and humorous. A donkey that shoots souvenir plastic gold coins out of it’s butt? Priceless.
I love the fairy tale forest, even though I can’t understand a word they’re saying, the animatronics are wonderful. Though, I’ve yet to visit a time when the Troll King is actually working, it’s been broken every single time. :(
The rides; many people may not know this, but the pirate ship ride in de Efteling is actually the largest pirate ship ride in the world. If you sit on the end rows, you actually go upside down a little bit. I could ride «Joris en de Draak» all day. I want to go on «Python» when I work up the nerve to do it. «Droomvlucht» is my favorite dark ride of all time. Among many other great rides in the park.
The food in the park is kind of lack-​luster though. As far as meals go, they don’t cater to vegetarians very well, as far as I could tell. The vegetarian population in The Netherlands is a lot larger than the USA, you’d think a vegetarian croquet or veggie burger on the menus wouldn’t be too much to ask. Though, I will say that the fresh made Stroopwafels are amazing… Well, it was the only time I’d ever had a fresh made Stroopwafel, but it was still amazing. :)
The Paper Gobblers around the park, I’ve never had so much fun throwing away my trash. They make me wish I had more trash to give them just to hear them thank me every single time I put something in their mouth.
This park makes me feel like a little kid again. ^_^

Best theme park I’ve been to so far, it might be because of nostalgia (being from a neighbouring town and all) or simply because it’s that great. I think it’s a mix of both.
The entire park makes you feel like you’re walking around in an old-​fashioned fairy tale land.
Theres a lot of diversity in the rides available and it’s huge.
My favourite rides would have to be ‘Vogelrock’ & ‘Villa Volta’, the first being a roller coaster in the dark and the second is a house that rotates around you and makes you feel like you’re the one swirling upside down.
If you find yourself bored in Noord-​Brabant –The Netherlands & it’s the season, go there, you’ll love it.

Epic theme-​park for kids and people who’d like to be kids forever! This park has plenty of cool atractions and rollercoasters as well as a whole world just for kids where they tell the kids all kinds of different fairytales.
We absolutely love this park as long as it is not too busy, a saturday in the middle of the summer is not a good day to go…
