Enjoyed my birthday dinner here. I love tapas concepts as it lets you try different dishes. Proeverij De Open Keuken offers Dutch food with a twist and some surprising ingredients/​pairings. It’s nice to be able to try something different at a decent price. We selected two starters and two mains each. The service is wonderful. We found the place to be a bit chilly.

Can summarize it very easily: Love this place!
With a group of people from work, we wanted to have a dinner in Hilversum and one of the persons suggested this place. Am I happy that she did :)
The concept of this place is that instead of ordering just one starter and one main dish, you have the possibility to order two smaller starters and two smaller main dishes to allow you to taste more different things :)
We were with a group of 4 and decided to have only the surprise starters but one main dish per person. This was not a problem at all. Instead of giving everybody two separate starters, we even got 4 starters per two persons, allowing for even more tasting of different dishes :)
Taste of all the different things I tried was very good also! Staff was also very quick and just before glasses were empty, came by asking whether we wanted to drink something more: very attentive!

Gombos (prawns, camarons) were great. The ‘fish and chips’, mushrooms, ribs, chevre crème brûlée and cheese plate with port for desert was possibly the best we’ve had in the Netherlands. The restaurant achieves what it sets out to be… great tastings. I recommend doing that. Order tastings. Incredible service, great selection of beer, great atmosphere. Perfect place to enjoy a long evening outside.
