Come here on a sunny day and be prepared to wait in line. The place is open 7 days a week and always packed. The portions are huge so order a whole plate and feed 2 people. You can always order more. Get in line, give your order and wait for them to call out your number. Full of expats and their friends or family, but also tons of locals who keep coming here. That must be a good sign. There is a smaller version downtown but the sheer volume here guarantees that the food is fresh and excellent.

Delicious seafood — good prices. Affordable wines and what you don’t finish, you take with you. Perfect for kids and large groups(although depending on the time, expect a wait). Been there a couple of times, always loud and crowded — but always worth it.

Anstellen, bestellen, bezahlen, Nummer abwarten, abholen… holländische Effizienz :)

Out of all the seafood restaurants where I’ve eaten, Simones is THEBEST. The restaurant is a little noisy and crowded but that is only because people from all over the Netherlands come to eat there(with good reason). All year long the food is fresh and tastefully prepared. The place is famous for its delicious and affordable haring: something which every tourist in the Netherlands should taste! Well deserved reputation!

Ugg, was not prepared for the high pressure caffeteria-style ordering system. And then after standing in line for 15, and having the menu translated for me, was told they only have salmon, tuna and sole. All of which I had eaten recently. So I left. Odd for a place so well know as a seafood destination. They did have other fish, but it was all deep fried.

If you’re looking for fresh fish and seafood and a quick way to share lunch this is the place to be… Nice to spend a sundah wondering along the seaside and finish by a good fish bite.

Fish just does’nt get any more fresh than this. This port is where they bring in the fish after it has been caught. They have all the prawns, crab, scallops, lobster etc you could want. I’m not really a fish person but I love some«kibbeling» once in a while. You can sit down in the restaurant if you want but it’s really busy most of the time. I prefer to have take out and enjoy them down at the beach. When the weather allows it ofcourse.

Sharing plates is a good idea, as the plates are big. And it allows you to try out different types of fish. In my experience, foreigners like the ‘Lekkerbek’ and ‘Kibbeling’. Those are fried fish dishes. The Dutch like the ‘Haring’ which is like a raw-ish herring, supposed to be eaten with onions and by holding the tail up and eating it upside down. A real delicacy! And Simonis is one of the places that is great for getting one.

Seafood GALORE!!! My long-lost childhood friend now lives in the hague so of course, our roadtrip to the netherlands requires that we see each other. She and her bf took us here and we are soooo grateful! At first, when we parked next to the seafood warehouse market(free parking), we got a little nervous and wandered what type of mafia is doing their work there, but once inside the restaurant the atmosphere is live like much of the seafood they sell. Popular in the netherlands is apparently herring, but we skipped that. The fish and chip here is a MUST here — various types of fish to choose from with HUGE portions from 10−14EUR. One friend ordered the«poon» for its name. we dont know how it translates but it was my favourite! I had the grilled seabass — it was good but a bit expensive and nothing like the fried foods. The calamari is amazing too. There are lots of flavours of dressings on the side for self-serve. I dont know what they mean, but they were all great. The service is what you would expect from the dutch — not that great, and their menu is in dutch, so it’s kinda difficult to find someone to help you translate… Final advice? Just come here and eat some fish.

Schon mehrfach da gewesen. Ein Erlebnis. Lecker vis/Fisch.

A must for locals and visitors they say. BUT: There is still room for improvements goes for food, service and cleanliness. Fish tends to be rather greasy and honestly the plates are always much too full! In times of starvation and exploitation of the world seas it is absolutely absurd to put so much on a plate that you regularly have to return 1⁄3rd till ½ of the food ordered. After three visits there I must say that I have really had enough. For a one offvisit it is fun really special and the food is usually good however we have also had Kibbeling and other fish(poon) which was definitely done in fat which was much too old. You could smell it and you could taste it. Also each time I was there I had to ask the waiters to clean the tables before we could lay down. While this may be understandable on a very busy day, it is not on slow-mo-days! Then it turns out to be a general policy and that is not nice. However: Remarkable how the waiters manage the crowd!

Nice seafood and fish place in the middle of the fishing port of The Hague. Can’t get it any fresher. Atmosphere is simple but kind of cool, little bit like fast food. Fish is really fresh, we had herring and mussels and salmon, all very good and fresh but lacking a little in terms of presentation and condiments. The lobster soup was spectacular. We paid 85EUR in three, including wine. That’s very fair.
