The only reason I’m not giving a 5 star reviews because we waited for our coffee & tea until after we finished the pancake; the staff was very friendly though, so I didn’t get mad. Frequented by a lot of Dutch people (which I take is a good sign). The pancake did not disappoint, in fact, the best I’ve had so far (went for simple Apple & Ham), the Irish Coffee was yumm (and I don’t even drink whiskey) and my mint tea (not my regular choice, it was just the moment’s whim) was a joy to sip (it was a live mint plant into hot water and sugar) simple and good. The menu is varied enough for you to choose from!

The bacon and cheese pancake was delicious. The bacon was perfectly cooked. Highly recommended.

Our little Airbnb spot was right outside of Broek in Waterland and on the suggestion of our host we decided to bike all over the countryside to truly see how beautiful the area is. Our host also suggested that before we began the 7+ hours of cycling that we stop by The White Swan for pancakes and coffee. Oh, how right she was!
Food — Now, these aren’t the pancakes that most Americans are used to but I knew what was about to arrive — savory and/​or sweet crêpe deliciousness. The partner got the one with apples and bacon, and smothered it in treacle. I went a different route with the herb and pine nut heavy garden one (can’t remember the name) and enjoyed every single bite. Coffee was strong and good but we had to ask for real milk. There were other things on our English menu but we chose to stick with the pancakes. The variety was excellent and it truly had something for everyone.
Cost — The Netherlands is expensive when compared to many of the other places we visited in Europe (Hungary, Czech Rep., Croatia, Slovenia, etc) but I felt like the quality and quantity of food in comparison to the price was excellent! Much better than many places found in Amsterdam proper.
Ambience — Located next to local homes and just down from a beautiful pond, the restaurant had a sunny but small porch on the front and ample seating within. Low ceilings but lots of light and it wasn’t loud at all. We spent a good deal of the time just admiring all of the various items hanging that were hanging from the ceiling or adorning the walls. I still see the particular shade of blue of the restaurant when I close my eyes and I would LOVE to paint my own home that color. Place was clean and even the bathroom had character.
Service — Friendly, fast and quick. We were lucky that we very rarely had folks give us frustrated looks (we are, after all, tourists here) or be rude/​brusque/​unfriendly over language barriers. Neither of those things happened here and we were pleased with the overall experience.
Pretty sure if you’re looking for fancy dining that this wouldn’t be your place but if you like a hearty and well-​made meal with good service then you’ve find the spot!

Two words: farmer omelet. Well worth the bike or bus ride from Amsterdam. Just make sure you haven’t eaten for at least 15 hours prior, or that you share with someone. This thing is seriously huge and delicious.

Man betritt ein uriges kleines Restaurant und fühlt sich gleich wohl. Nettes, angenehmes Ambiente und eine freundliche Begrüßung machen Lust auf mehr. Die Karte bietet für jeden etwas. Die Spezialität des Hauses sind ganz klar die Pfannkuchen, daneben gibt es aber auch diverse Fleisch– und Fischgerichte, verschiedenste Vorspeisen, Snacks und Desserts. Der Service ist schnell, sehr freundlich und vielsprachig (wir wurden schnell als Deutsche enttarnt und in unserer Muttersprache weiter bedient). Vorab gab es Brot mit Kräuterbutter. Die Hauptgänge kamen ohne lange Wartezeit und waren wirklich köstlich. Auf spezielle Wünsche bei der Bestellung (zusätzliche Zutat) wurde wie selbstverständlich eingegangen. Wir hatten einen sehr leckeren, herzhaften Pfannkuchen und ein Fischgericht, welches sich durch Frische und fein gewürzte Soßen auszeichnete. Daumen hoch! Klare Empfehlung!

Holland ist ein Paradies für Kinder! All die leckeren Dinge, von denen Mama sonst sagt, dass man sie nicht essen soll, weil sie ja doch ungesund sind, zählen hier zu den Grundnahrungsmitteln, es gibt Fristi und Schokomel und Streusel noch und nöcher. Von Pommes will ich schon gar nicht schreiben, die angebotenen Mengen sind quasi obszön. Und für Pfannkuchen gibt es man staune spezielle Restaurants. Pannekoekenhuis! Kinderträume werden war!
Ein solches aber ein besonders schönes ist der Witte Swan in Broek in Waterland. Schön gelegen ist es wahrlich nicht, aber wenn man vorher eine Radtour durchs Waterland macht und sich dabei an die kleineren Wege hält, lässt einen das die in unmittelbarer Nähe des Restaurants befindliche Hauptstraße schnell vergessen. Und Broek in Waterland selbst ist auch ein sehr schnuffiges Dörfchen, wo man sich urige kleine Häuschen anschauen kann. Parkplätze gibt es direkt beim Haus reichlich für Fahrräder! Dies war für uns genau richtig, darum hab ich nach Abstellmöglichkeiten für Autos nicht geschaut.
Das Häuschen ist malerisch und man kann sich gemütlich auf die Terrasse setzen. Einige andere Tische waren auch besetzt, aber die Kellnerin erschien prompt und brachte uns die Karte. Mehr als 60 verschiedene Pfannkuchen waren im Angebot, von süß bis herzhaft in einer Preisspanne von 4,95 bis ca. 10 Euro. Wir wählten einen Kinderpfannkuchen für den Junior und Getränke für uns, der Gatte ein kühles Bier und ich einen französischen Cider. Alles wurde zügig serviert und war sehr sehr lecker. Der Cider war genau das Richtige nach einer Radtour, perfekt.
Die Pfannkuchen an den Nebentischen sahen extrem lecker aus und sehr üppig. Aber weil wir ja noch weiterradeln wollten und nicht pappkugelsatt relaxen konnten, entschieden wir uns gegen weitere Bestellungen schweren Herzens. Leider ist der Weiße Schwan nicht direkt wohnortnah, aber sollte uns der Weg noch einmal nach Holland und Waterland führen, werden wir sicherlich wieder vorbeischauen.
