Ok, they’re not exactly authentic, but for the Netherlands the burritos here are AMAZING! Everything I’ve had here has been absolutely delicious, the staff are super friendly, service is fast and the burritos are the size of small babies. Best to order takeaway as eating inside isn’t super cozy.

We order here all the time, if my bf lets me, that is. I mean, I’d eat it almost every day. The burritos are to die for, and the people that make them are very friendly. My fav choice is the wrap with guacamole and bacon. Don’t forget to order nacho chips and dips!

I had the chicken bacon avocado burrito with chipotle and habanero sauce. Absolutely delicious. Nice little rest spot if you are touring the city.

Continuing my quest for good Mexican in Amsterdam, we decided to stop by Burrito Maker on the recommendation of other Americans who tried this out. This is solid Tex Mex, not traditional Mexican — think hard shell corn tacos and burritos stuffed to the brim. The salsas are HOT and the cheese is shredded and melty! And there is ACTUAL sour cream in this establishment — none of that crème fraîche or watery stuff that I’ve had at other places in town. Hallelujah! I had the tacos with chicken/bacon/avocado — the bacon was some of the best I’ve ever had, but it was a huge strip in each taco which was a bit overpowering. My husband went for a beef burrito and he loved it. Our meals really hit the spot for the gluttonous Tex Mex experience from back home! This warrants a repeat visit to try the guacamole and nachos(love their chips, by the way). Be warned that there is very limited seating in the restaurant itself — maybe 3 tables of 3 max, so you might be better off with takeout. Eric, the guy who opened the store, is a real sweetheart — my husband and I, upon hearing an American accent in the air, made a point to chat with him. He’s been living in Amsterdam for a number of years and recognized the need for a restaurant like his. He puts great care into procuring the ingredients and perfecting his recipes, sometimes even adapting things for the Dutch palate(the pico de gallo, for example, is more sweet than savory). So while I enjoyed my meal, I do think that the execution can be a little more adventurous, as I’d love to see real Tex Mex done well in Amsterdam!

Um… to me this seems like a very Dutch interpretation of TexMex. This is the only way I can think to describe it. I’ve had this delivery several times, as it’s the only delivery Mexican nearby(maybe one of two in Amsterdam). The quality of the food seems to be the #1 issue here. The rice — seems like Minute rice(the cheapest possible kind). The cheese is surely shredded Gouda. The chicken seemed like it’s canned. The chips might as well be Albert Hein tortilla chips. I don’t know what is happening here or how this place has such great reviews — I’m really wondering if their take-out service is so different than the experience in the restaurant.

I have never been to this place but ordered from them online plenty of times. So, I may not be able to comment on the ambience but I can comment on the delivery :) The burritos are always good — I have tried the beef and the chicken both. I like that they offer a range of sauces with different spice levels. I have also tried their salad which is quite decent. But what I would go back for is the burrito. The delivery is always very prompt and the staff on the phone is always very friendly and patient. I may just go ahead and order one now which I’m writing the review… yum

Nice location with a beautiful view of the square. I found the food to be surprisingly good. Everything was made to order. The food was nicely presented and tasted good. One bit of warning– when ordering spicy salsa, beware, as it is VERY spicy, even for those with experience. Suggest the burrito and the chips and salsa. I wish they were open earlier for lunch on Sundays, as they started the day at 2:00.

Perfect location on the Haarlemmerplein, and in the neighborhood. This is what city life should be. The owner is really nice and treats his craft seriously. Quality is great. I ordered a vegetarian burrito, and it smelled just as fresh as it tasted. You could also put in your own combination inside the burrito. The burrito wasn’t artificially spiked with hot sauces and peppers to make it spicy. The homemade salsa and guacamole is great. I used to miss Chipotle after moving here, but I think my quest for a good vegetarian burrito in Amsterdam ends now.

Could be my favorite tex-mex burrito in Amsterdam. I’m still torn between one other which has been in the business a little longer. The owner, who has just started out this business himself a few months was very nice. We had a good conversation about business and burritos in Amsterdam. The first thing I noticed when biting into the vegetarian burrito is the freshness of the ingredients. It doesn’t take much to add fresh ingredients, especially in a vegetarian burrito, yet some places still refuse to do this or create strange combinations. A typical tex-mex burrito should have rice, beans, lettuce, salsa, cheese and meat. They should not have pineapple and banana! This place is well on it’s way to making a name in Amsterdam and hopefully some good food. The location gives you a nice view of the corner and a fun birds eye view when sitting up stairs. The interior doesn’t have much going on but maybe since it’s a new business not a lot of energy has been put to that yet. I am hoping for good things from this place.

I must say that I would like to give this place a five star review. I really do. It’s not the best Burrito I’ve eaten. Heck, it’s not even in the top 10, but it’s definitely the best Tex Mex burrito I’ve had in Amsterdam. So why not give it five stars? Well, I think it was a bit too small in size compared to the cost. I know Amsterdam is more expensive, and that I can’t expect to get the same size as in the US, but even after weighing these factors in I come to the conclusion above. The guy running the place is a sweetheart, and I do wish him the best. And I would probably eat there more often if the price was a bit lower, or the burrito a bit bigger. edit: to my pleasant surprise the size of the burrito was bigger and still as tasty during my last visit. 5 stars it is and my favorite Amsterdam burrito has been chosen.
