While the food was good, the service was horribly slow. It took over 10 minutes for my mom to receive her second glass of wine! If you have time, eat here. If you have serious jetlag, eat here because staying up late is the best way to rid oneself of it. The mussels and fries were good, and the«surprise» menu was most certainly a surprise. Overall, two New Yorkers were fine, but not okay with the wait.

Avoid this place at all cost. The staff and the owner are pretentious and rude. They make you feel like you are just not worthy to eat at their swanky restaurant. The food took forever to come and when it did arrive it was tepid and greasy. The wine was over priced and frankly the whole experience scream rip off. Dirty glassware. I could go on and on… Never again.

Excellent wait staff with large portions. They had a good selection. I tried the white asparagus because it was in season but it was not as good as the local hype. We enjoyed our meals. The house wines were good and well priced

I came here with my mother while visiting Amsterdam. It’s been a few weeks since we were there. When we first got to Europe mussel season was starting everywhere so we were very excited to try some mussels from this neck of the woods, as we have some pretty fantastic mussels in British Columbia being right on the Pacific Ocean. We made a reservation earlier in the day because the man whom I’m assuming was the manager told us they were the best in Amsterdam, we believed him. The awards on the window backed this up so we left excited. To our disappointment we showed up for our 8 o’clock reservation, the one time we decided to make a later reservation because we felt we kept going for dinner too early every night by European standards! We sit down happily ready to order these mussels and our server tells us they are out. We were both frustrated but we decided in the long run to just order something else, for at least the next 20 minutes after we saw many things of mussels going to various tables. This was frustrating unfortunately. I ordered some sashimi for dinner that cost 14 euro and they gave me 6 tiny pieces with a bit of lettuce. To give you a visual idea these pieces of sashimi wouldn’t even be big enough to serve on nigiri . You might in fact have great mussels, but perhaps you should work on setting the same standard for your other dishes. Also one more thing we found a bit obnoxious which my mother failed to mention is that when another couple sat down next to us whom had clearly had their hotel suggest them to come to that restaurant. The manager who told us of these amazing mussels earlier in the day did not once say a word to us the entire time we were there, he hid away. But he just jumped on the opportunity to talk himself up to this couple from the hotel… We left paying the entire bill too. That’s some great customer service alright.

We stopped in to make a reservation asking if they had mussels and they responded with«we have the best in Amsterdam». We were very exited to finally try North Sea mussels. Coming from the pacific coast of Canada we have very amazing seafood and great mussels. Unfortunately by the time we arrived no more mussels. needless to say we were disappointed. We understand these things happen. We looked to see if there was something else on the menu we would like. I decided to order the carpaccio and soup and my daughter ordered the sashimi. The tomato soup was very good, the carpaccio was somewhat underwhelming. I understand going out to eat in Europe is sometimes more expensive however my daughter received 6 tiny pieces of tuna sashimi plopped on a few pieces of lettuce for 14 euros. We were hoping considering we were so excited to try the mussels they raved about and we were unable to try that they would have made sure our food was excellent. I believe our server felt we were not particularly happy, so instead of giving us good customer service she ignored us for the rest of our meal and the owner avoided us the rest of the evening, even after he had boasted about their mussels. Even though we were very disappointed we tried to make the best out of the situation and remained pleasant with the staff. however by the end of the meal we just wanted to leave, as we no longer felt comfortable in the establishment.

Came here with wife on Sunday, no reservations. The restaurant has a very attentive wait staff. Décor is modern and very elegant. Atmosphere is quiet and feels very fresh and clean. The food is very tasty and has a good range of seafood. Ordered the following — mussels pan fried in herbs appetizer — bacon wrapped goat cheese appetizer — wolf fish and cod entrée — fish stew entrée — crime brûlée The appetizers and entrees were fabulous. Appetizers had an abundance of taste. Mussels were buttery and filled with herbed flavor and sauce. And you can’t go wrong with Bacon wrapped cheese… Highly recommend the wolf and cod fish entrée — it was cooked to perfection, seared in the outside and very juicy in the insides. You can truly taste the freshness of the fish fillets. The fish stew was delicious as well, it was served in a put with some mash on a separate plate. The stew had a lot of fish fillets stewed with other seafood. This dish was very meaty and provided a more subtler Tse compared with the fresh fish fillets of the other entrée we ordered. Cream brûlée was standard fanfare, nothing spectacular.

Dinner for 5(3 adults, 2 teens) last week. We were looking for a seafood place near our hotel and found Sluizer via Unilocal. This was our first real restaurant experience of the trip. Food: Moules frites a big hit with the twins. Grownups enjoyed their tuna, fish stew and cod/wolf fish combo. I wish I hadn’t let the waitress talk me out of the smoked Rode Poon because I soon learned how great smoked fish is in the Netherlands. The wine list was small but reasonable. We had a French white that was unfamiliar(and that I can’t recall the name of) but paired well with seafood. Service: Could not have been nicer. More attentive than typical in Amsterdam. Except for talking me out of the smoked fish, no complaints — and I’m sure she had been trained to «warn» Americans about such a highly flavored dish. Value: No complaints here. It’s easy to spend the same or more in Amsterdam and we thought the quality justified the price. I’d go back.

We went to have dinneWow the waiter was full of himself! He acted like it was the swankiest top-notch restaurant in the world and it was some kind of privilege just to walk through the door. He treated us like peasants. Food was decent but the waitstaff were a bunch of foppish pretentious jerks.

We ate at Sluizer last night. It came highly recommend by our hotel. Seemed to have mostly locals eating there. We ordered the sashimi appetizer — Excellent. My wife ordered the grilled tuna w/pasta — that was even more delicious. I ordered the lamb. It was very tasty. Sluizer was one if the best meals we had during our vacation. I Highly recommend it!

Lovely traditional Dutch restaurant. Small menu but makes the choices quite easy. Since I understood this place was most noted for seafood, I asked the server which she suggested: the seafood stew or the cod. She recommended the cod since I wasn’t extremely hungry(she mentioned the stew was best but very rich). This was absolutely the freshest, nicest cod I have ever had. Slightly crisp(seared) on the outside, but moist and flakey on the inside. Paired with a mild Dijon mustard type sauce, spinach mashed potatoes and broccoli. Bravo! Very nice service as well, with a reasonably good wine list.
