I never used to be a big fan of getting my hair cut, as all hairdressers I had ever been to never really seemed to understand what I wanted. That is, until I met Ruud. The moment I walked in to Ruud’s salon, I was sold. The space is comforting and crispy clean, and Ruud is the impersonation of friendliness and makes you feel welcome from the moment he greets you like an old friend, takes your coat and makes you a lovely cuppa. When you go to Ruud for the first time, he’ll really make an effort getting to know you as a person in order to determine the look that fits your personal style best. He’ll also go ahead and provide you with an in-depth analysis of the current quality of your hair. Back in 2010, my first time at Rudolph’s, my hair was pretty much a sad dead mess after too much sun and too little maintenance. Whereas other hairdressers would have just taken a couple of minutes to chop off the dead ends, Ruud actually took the time to discuss all the options to make something out of the misery that was my hair. He really focused on what was the best look for me, what would go well with my both my facial features and personality, and suggested new ideas to me that I would have never come up with on my own but ended up loving. I have had long hair for as long as I can remember and never thought I was the type who could pull off the short hair, until about half a year ago. I told Ruud I was moving to London for work and that I was a little bored of the cutie look. He then started browsing through this database of hairstyles and showed me a few more edgy looking haircuts, including a bold short cut. He gave me some time to think it over and let it entirely up to me to pick one. So I did. I went for short. Ruud then worked his magic and concentrated on making sure that every single hair would be trimmed perfectly. I can honesty say that I would have never ever ever ever dared to have it all cut off at any other hair salon, but I know Ruud would never let me walk out of his salon with a look that would not work for me. Since then, I’ve gotten so many compliments on my new hairdo and am so happy Ruud suggested the change. Thus, to cut a long story short, Rudolph is hands-down the best hair stylist I have ever been to and I would not trade him for anyone else. Even though I am not living in the Netherlands anymore, the first thing I do when I am back for a visit is booking a slot at Ruud’s salon. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment at Rudolph before all of Amsterdam finds out how just how wonderful and talented this man is. Oh and congrats, you’ve finally found the perfect hair stylist!
