Great choice of cocktails and amazing ambience, perfect for a cocktail bar. Snacks are really good too, satisfactory for a light dinner and really tasty.

Porem is another hidden gem and a hidden gem in the Red Light District to boot. The bar is very classy, casual and laid back at the same time. It is a speakeasy with a bell you need to ring to enter, but you don’t need a reservation or special code for entry. The interior is very lux modern, decorated with photos of famous Nederlanders and Amsterdammers. We were lucky to have owner Remco be our host and make our delicious cocktails personally. They have tasty bites, mostly Asian dimsum as the bar is behind and connected to The Geisha asian restaurant. If you’re craving for a cocktail and you’re in this part of town, treat yourself and stop in. It’s nice to have another place in this part of town like Mata Hari, Hiding in Plain Sight and Wynand Fockink that caters to locals as well as city visitors. I don’t often give 5 stars but this place seriously made my night. It’s pretty hidden so keep your eyes out for the sign on the wall «porem» which is next to a buzzer. We didn’t make reservations, but I would suggest doing so just in case. Service was fantastic, super friendly but professional. Drinks were amazing as well and not unreasonably priced. It had a loungey, speakeasy feel with good ambient lighting and mellow techno music. Pretty amazing :)

This was love at first sight (once we were inside). You can call ahead or text for reservations or just buzz the door to see if there is space. It’s a small but cozy spot between Neiuwmarkt and Centraal Station.
The people know their drinks. They have a cool themed menu based on certain people and their personalities or you can give a description and they will come up with something for you. Love a specific liquor? Let them know. Like tart, fruity, sweet, herby, etc? Tell them. They will find the perfect drink for you.
I asked so many questions and watched them make cocktails for over an hour. They are friendly and patient.
Porem is Dutch slang for face and they want to be the face of cocktails on Amsterdam… and it sounds like «pour ‘em» in English. Clever man. They want to be the best and they are doing might well in my opinion. There’s a fully stocked bar and I dare you to ask for something and them joy have it or know how to make it. They are a creative sort, so you could mix it up! Also they make up to 20 homemade syrups each night.
Did I mention I love this place? OK. Just go and thank me later ;)

Generous sized cocktails and very reasonable prices for Centrum. Friendly service and non stop bar snacks and water. Next door to the bike shop. Fun!
