The food wasn’t 1 star bad. Normally I would have given the mediocre food 3 stars, but the service we received was dishonorable. The first sign that we were in to get swindled was when the owner came rushing out to give us a ‘special menu’ when we stopped for a second to look at the menu at the door. The second should have been the hurried questions of ‘would you like bread?’ or ‘is the medium okay?’ We even got up sold on water. In the end the meal was much more expensive then anticipated. If I had wanted to spend as much as I did, I would’ve gone to an excellent looking Afghan restaurant I spotted earlier in the Jordaan neighborhood, and it didn’t even have a ‘fixed menu’. The lack of other customers and the foreign currency stapled to the wall was like a gruesome warning of the money past, unwitting customers had been forced to part with. It is safe to say I will not be returning to this restaurant.
