I found this place on Unilocal while looking for a cigar bar with my friend after we had dinner nearby during our weekend in Amsterdam! It was such a great surprise to have found this one! The bartender was super friendly and made us feel at home! We stayed at the smoking part enjoying our drinks and cigars. It wasn’t crowded and it was very comfortable! When go back to Amsterdam(which is something I surely wanna do) I’ll be definitely paying a visit to Freddy’s bar! Keep up the good work!

I’ve been looking for a cigar lounge open past 6pm in this city, and I found it here. The bartender was super friendly and implied that I could smoke in here without buying anything, but I picked up a Montecristo No. 3. The selection is pretty small(hence the less than 5 star rating) and skews toward the higher end — there were some Behikes and so on in a small humidor next to the entrance to the smoking area. TL; DR: Pretty awesome, quiet place to smoke after work.

This is an upscale bar that exudes class in every way imaginable; from its crystal cut highball glasses to its elegant lighting, you will swear that you are as cool James Bond… or Freddy Heineken, which is just as cool. Yes, this bar is the child of Freddy Heineken and possesses the sophistication and charm of its founder. It was raining like mad in Amsterdam, and I am sure that I looked like a drowned cat when I came through Freddy’s doors, but the bartender made me feel like a regular within seconds. I was soon warmed by his gentlemanly service and a few whiskeys. I was particularly taken with the one of a kind Heineken coasters with Freddy Heineken’s picture on one side. My bartender informed me that they were made especially for this bar and that this was the only place in the world where you could snag yourself one. Yes, from the deep rich wood décor to the world class service, It is Old World excellence here at Freddy’s Bar, a stop that I promise you won’t regret.

Very classic hotel and bar — although we came here for the Bloody, of which I sadly was not a fan(hate port/red wine, so when its added to my bloodies, that makes them undrinkable to me). Luckily they let me trade it in for another fabulous cocktail, and despite the dreary weather, it was nice to sit by the window and overlook the water. Very friendly and helpful staff as well, which is always a big plus!

Gert-Jan, Freddy’s barkeeper for the past twenty-two years, keeps the place impeccable. His social and bar-tending skills have given him a loyal following. Walking over the Munt in Amsterdam? Pop your head into Freddy’s. If the barkeeper is six foot five it’s Gert-Jan. Tell him you read about him on Unilocal.Ask him about all the famous people he has served. Let him serve you in a way Freddy would be proud of.
