I’ve been here a few times now and it’s just what I look for in a coffee shop. The staff are very friendly, the food is great and they cater for those who want to eat super healthy and also those who would just love a slice of each of the delicious freshly in store made cakes to go with their coffees! I particularly like the feel of filter, it has a homely comfortable vibe to it and they display some beautiful art work from independent artists which changes quiet regularly making the place feel and look really fresh! If I could give more stars I would! A must visit when in Amsterdam!

Couldn’t even get into the place! The door was locked with many patrons inside, we rang the bell twice, made eye contact with a waiter, and were still left standing out in the cold. Was extremely disappointed after all the other rave reviews given and how far we had to walk to be ignored by staff and customers alike.

I keep coming back, I just love the snack selection here. Had the lemon merengue pie for the first time yesterday. Uh oh. So. Good. I mean I want to be good and have the superfood smoothie and all that, but one look at the counter full of brownies and lemoniciousness and all resolutions are out the door.

Was in need of a late breakfast/early lunch when we came across this place. It looked very big inside and very inviting. I just stuck to a coffee and a sandwich — a chicken sandwich. I was expecting proper chicken but turned out to be deli-style meat. No worries, it was chicken. It was tasty. The young lady working there was very nice and friendly. I love friendly staff; had too many in cafes/bars who would rather be elsewhere and let the customers know it. The place is pretty big with lots of tables. It kinda felt like a revamped warehouse. Nice feeling. I will definitely go back when next in A’dam.

Filter is one of a kind place for coffee and snacks, very pleasant to read or work while drinking coffee and eating a sandwich. So relaxing and the staff so kind and friendly. I particularly liked the décor of the place, simple chairs, wooden big tables, some mixed furniture, nice space and airy sensation. On a sunny day is just awesome. On a rainy day should be even better.

Nice and simple café with 5 choices of light sandwiches to start ur day, crowded on weekends but the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing, average service, sandwich and coffee are good, a lot of travelers from nearby hotels so the experience is not so local

My new favorite coffee house! I was surprised to stumble upon it accidentally while riding my bike. The location is close to Waterlooplein but otherwise it seemed a bit random. Anyway, they offer slow coffee, which I jumped on as not many coffee houses in Amsterdam do — and it literally took at least 10 minutes to make. But I got an entire little pot, which was adorable. It turned out to be really delicious. The room is spacious, bright and open with really big tables, making it ideal for bringing along a laptop or book and hanging out for a while. It offered clean, spacious bathrooms, friendly and knowledgeable staff and a chill atmosphere. It’s also connected to a hostel and has a super awesome interior design aspects, making it hip and unique at the same time.

Filter is my favorite place for a coffee and a snack in Amsterdam. It’s run by some really nice people. As an American expat, I found Filter friendlier, brighter, more open, and more personable than the local cafes and the big chains. The cakes, pastries, drinks, and sandwiches range from good to the best I’ve had in the city. The tables are roomy, the chairs are comfy, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. The breakfast combo is a pretty good deal for central Amsterdam, too!

We enjoyed some sandwiches and had some really really good dirty chai lattes here. I cannot give them five stars because there were alooooot of flies hanging around in the place and I really think that they should do something to keep them out or trap them. That said, the coffees were good enough to make us return.

Life is full of surprises. Like this strange first experience I made with Filter. And then finding out that the ‘bouncer’ was a confused person who thinks he’s an actor, practicing here without informing anyone. Dude, you’ve got talent. But next time make sure you wear the right costume. So I returned to correct my image of Filter. And it was pleasant this time, sitting in the sun with a cappuccino and a lekker broodje. Now I can say that I do recommend this place to relax and enjoy.
