Nice place for both drinks and food. I ended up here having no idea were I was letting myself into, and it appeared to be quite good. The staff was also quite friendly, but unfortunately service was slow even though the restaurant was almost empty. I had a pleasant time here, even though nothing makes this place fantastic.

When looking for a quick bite to eat, we wandered into ‘t Pakhuis, since it got recommended to us by multiple locals. Even though the place was really crowded, the waiter served us promptly and, since we were in a hurry to catch a movie, he made sure we got our food swiftly. The food, however, was nothing special. We ordered the vegetarian options containing meat from the ‘Vegetarian Butcher’, which is usually yummy, but was prepared in a rather uninspiring way. It’s probably because ‘t Pakhuis serves typical Amsterdam-style food, but everything is rather basic with strange taste combinations:(vegetarian) meat, fries and salad. The quantities were good, though great flavor was missing. Though the food was nothing we couldn’t have done better in our home kitchen, the service was great and ‘t Pakhuis definitely scored points in that respect. We’d still recommend it if you’re looking for something that’ll fill you up fast.

Très bonne adresse au coeur d’Amsterdam! Accueil sympathique, prix convenable! Et là… le weedburger(vegan burger with seaweed)!!! Bön burger avec chips de légumes et frites. Assez copieux. Le burger né vous fera pas planer mais on appréciera l’arrière goût particulier ;)

Used to go to this place regularly when I lived in Amsterdam, so I usually go back when I visit. Good food and a good amount for the money, but the service was always lacking which you have to deal with here. But on the most recent visit the food was far from previous visits. My meal was bland and my friends’ was cold and had to be sent back to be warmed, after an extra ordinary(even by their standard) wait for the main dish. The appetizers were also sub standard, nachos can be avoided here for sure. Disappointed on the most recent visit is the basis for this review.

Excellente adresse pour un dîner de type«brasserie«. La qualité est au rendez-vous tant pour le service que pour les plats. Avec un très bon rapport qualité/prix.

Stopped in here and sat and did some work on my laptop whilst waiting on shopping expedition that was underway. Drank beers but did not try the food… What I can say is it’s a nice environment, the staff are welcoming, friendly — did not pressure me to buy food etc. and were very responsive when I asked for refills etc. Ohh and decent free wifi etc. I liked it so much the first time I went back again — that’s worth 4 stars and I suspect if I tried the food it might earn 5 stars.

Somehow I ended up here without even knowing it. One minute I was in De Wallen having Friday after-work drinks, then I was following a new friend(along with a pack of people I just met) to Pakhuis! With 8 people on a Friday night we never thought we’d get a spot, but somehow, after 15 mins there was room for us! The staff was incredibly nice with our group as we tried to stay out of the way while we waited and we all even grabbed some wine as we waited. They have two great specials each day for a VERY good price. And everyone seemed to have loved both. I can’t wait to go back to this chill and tasty spot in the center of Amsterdam! I had the pork which I’m normally OK with eating, but then I had this pork. So good! Next time I might try the other special… Or just stick with what I know.

The reviews don’t lie, the ribs are fantastic and make this place worth the visit. I’m a North Carolina boy so I have a very high bar for Bbq and pork and these spare ribs hold their own against anything from the south. The sauce was sweet and not necessarily a traditional Bbq sauce but it was tasty and really works. The meat simply fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. Although the price for these may seem a bit high, you get a full rack of ribs and fries so it is a LOT of food and easily enough to share for two.

8 euros for a steak dinner set meal? Yes please! This place was amazing and I really liked it for the price and good food. Of course this wasn’t the most wonderful steak but it was good and fair for the price. A good portion and very filling. The atmosphere is also nice and overall a great place for dinner when on a budget!

Do you like Heineken and spare ribs? If so, GOHERE! We were in a café getting hungry and Unilocaled food near us, this place came up and we decided to go based on the fact that it was a gastropub. In the beer department, they serve only Heineken in small glasses, they were 2.50 euro each, which I thought was a bit steep for the size. I ordered the spare ribs because they were a house specialty and I sure am glad I did. They were so good! The fries were also really good and the salad that came with it was even exceptional, it had a coleslaw on top. They also served us a variety of sauces with our meal, including ketchup and mayo plus some dressing-like choices. In total I spent 22 euro on the ribs and 2 beers, and we also split nachos between 4. The nachos, I almost forgot, really good! My friends ordered 2 different types of schnitzel and they thought it was pretty good, but the ribs took the cake for sure. Also there was a black cat roaming around the place.

Tip: Spare ribs! 14.95 eur are just divine. If not for the ribs, this place would get only one star… The ambience is sloppy, interiors are dark and not very modern, and the service is complacent. It’s just past teh hyped french fries place, so if you want heaps of meat for lunch in stead of just potatoes and mayo, I would recommend this place. However, I suspect you won’t stay loing after you’ve finished eating…

I don’t know if this is still the case, but when I was a student, everyone with a student card got a discount. Don’t remember how much though… But I do know that whenever me and my girlfriends would be low on money and still wanted to go out to eat, we’d go here! And I’ll be honest, we still do(now without the discount)! The menu of this place never seems to change and actually it doesn’t even need a change. It has the classic dishes that will do good on any night(except when you’re a vegetarian). Have had the chicken skewers(kipsaté) a gazillion times and I’m always happy with it. Their schnitzels are good too. It has the looks of a real pub, dark wooden tables and chairs and a lack of light. Food is cheap and good enough for that price. It’s not a place where you have a long dinner. Whenever I go here I usually head out to a bar for after dinner drinks.

the food is good and the atmosphere is intimate and not too expensive. Traditional dishes and a cat in house as the mascot.

I was a little hesitant to order ‘nachos’ at a Dutch eetcafe(it’s not an American pub, after all)…but they were exceptionally delicious! As was the schintzel with brie and mushrooms. Great food overall, but the service was completely indifferent.

It’s been so long since I was here, as my trip though Europe lasted 10 weeks and Amsterdam was at the beginning. But from memory, I had a very Amsterdam breakfast involving eggs and bread. Food was cheap, view was OK, and I believe they hooked me up with a wifi code. Eetcafe was a nice way to spend my morning.
