Calf & Bloom

Super slow wifi according to the Speedtest. ~1.5mbps down and ~0,3mbps up. Pretty nice place though.

We stopped here for lunch on our first day in Amsterdam and really enjoyed it! The restaurant is large so we didn’t have to wait for a table and there is a small outdoor seating area right off the canal as well. They have english menus but it definitey did not feel «touristy» as there were many locals eating lunch there as well.
We ordered club sandwiches (hubby got the salmon and I got the chicken) and then we split an order of fries. The sandwiches were huge! Had we not been starving we easily would’ve been able to split one (along with the fries of course)! They were very good — ingredients were fresh, bread wasn’t soggy, just overall a great sandwich. They also had a great selection of beverages — both hot and cold so there really was something for everyone there.
Service was friendly though a little slow (though we quickly learned that this place was lightening fast compared to others)! They also offered free wi-​fi and had clean bathrooms.
Overall this was a great first meal in Amsterdam! Highly recommend!

This was a nice place to grab a quick lunch. Really clean and a nice selection on this menu. If you’re hungry… get the full sandwich, the half is just 1 piece of bread.
Great outdoor patio right off a canal!

Wir haben mit Freunden eine spontane Amsterdam Tour gemacht und haben das Bloom für Café & Kuchen genutzt. Der Service wirklich Bombe. Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir waren über den Service begeistert. Wir hatten alle ein Stück Kuchen, diese waren sehr frisch und lecker. Hat geschmeckt wie hausgemacht. Der frische Minztee war wie immer und überall. Das Lokal war sehr voll, aber mit den unterschiedlichsten Menschen die wir gerne beobachtet haben. Wir saßen direkt am Fenster und konnten den Trubel und das schöné Wetter genießen. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dorthin.

Simple and stylish (geen poetspas) café/​restaurant. Full menu for breakfast lunch and dinner. I came in at 1047 on a Tuesday, so it was empty save for a couple of coffee drinkers and a breakfast raging couple. This place is nice and quiet, for now. Decent (albeit expensive) bottles of wine and typical beer selection, however the food looks rather tasty. I had a ham cheese tosti that was perfectly toasted and filled (with REAL ham) :) for sure will be back again soon!

If you like tomato soup and are in Amsterdam then you have to try this place out. The service is also very good as are the prices.

Ich war am 26.07.2014 im Shoppingcenter Kalvertoren in Amsterdam, aber nur weil es wie aus Eimern regnete, ansonsten meide ich solche Touristenzentren. Weil ich Hunger und Durst hatte ging ich dort in das Café Calf & Bloom.
Es war sehr voll, mehrere Gruppen gingen. Aber ich fand ein Plätzchen. Bei dem Hochbetrieb musste ich etwas auf die Bedienung warten, aber die junge Dame war sehr freundlich und hielt mich mit meinen spärlichen Niederländisch-​Kenntnissen für einen Einheimischen und wir verstanden uns gut. Die Bedienungen hatten sehr viel zu tun, trotzdem kam mein hausgemachter (!) Eistee schnell. Der Uitsmijter mit Schinken, Käse und Ei auf Mehrkornbrot war lecker und reichlich.
Die Preise sind normal. Beim nächsten Mal versuche ich den Ceasars Salad.
Kritik: Wechselnde Bedienungen (Bestellung/​Servierung/​Bezahlung).

I found this to be a very relaxing bar in the midst of a hectic downtown shopping center. They provide menus in English to accommodate tourists as well as friendly service. As a plus, they have free wifi and clean restrooms.

I eat a club sandwich: chicken, avocado, salad and egg sauce and a coke for a reasonable price.
According to me this place is nothing exceptional. :)

Calf & Bloom is a convenient place for a coffee or beer break, as well as a light meal, as it’s loacted inside a shopping center near Heiligeweg. The croque monsieur was tasty, and the croquettes were decent. You can also get coffee to go, or drink it quickly in the bar area. There is also free wi-​fi, just in case you need it too.
