A**holes in the Wall is more like it. Went there just because it was an easy spot to meet up with friends. Total tourist trap with a douchebag server who at least was replaced by a nicer server, who, unfortunately brought the wrong and obviously more expensive order to my table, wouldn’t take it back. Overpriced, too.

So, it is a great bar in a pretty cool area. The guys and girls working there are always nice and cool to talk to. They pretty much have everything you need. Nice collection of Single Malts which was important for me, but their options for beer where pretty good too. if you do want to have drinks at a cool bar, check out the hole in the wall. we liked it!

Decent Dutch approximation of an Irish bar with a lot of seats out on the Leidseplein too. The inside is pretty cosy though. If you’re from out of town i’d say you should try somewhere local first but if you happen to be a local then why the heck not. I had a Murphy’s Red and something else random now lost in the mists of a good evening. My friend was perhaps bolder in ordering himself some Trappist bottles.

Standard Irish bar. The staff was nice when we popped in there for a drink. This is on the main area of the leitestraad. I suggest doing the beer flight. Don’t half step. Come here if you are a tourist that doesn’t want to experience local bars.

The prices were decent for being in such a touristy location and the staff was friendly(they didn’t treat us like they’d likely never see us again, which happens often at touristy locations). The rest of the bar was sort of run-of-the-mill irish pub and while I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back without a reason, I’d stop in if I were in the neighborhood.

Went here to meet up with some fellow Unilocalers for pubquiz night on Monday. I had a large Guinness(very large!) and a regular beer over the course of the quiz. The pub itself is nice, not super cozy but way better than my expectations were for being in such a touristy location in Amsterdam. The servers are friendly and pretty quick to get you your beers and take away empty glasses. Although our pub quiz team came in last(we can only go up from here!)…we did so with flare. The trivia questions are a bit tough and it is quite a long game(8 rounds!) so be prepared to use your brain for a while. I’d go back for Trivia night and if you are in the area of Leidseplein and need a chill spot to grab a pint and relax in… I’d recommend it as well!

Lads, Hole in the wall is an Irish pub in the heart of «the entertainment area» of Amsterdam(a.k.a. ‘Leidseplein’). And it’s everything you’d expect when you think of these two words: «Irish» and«pub»: Whiskeys, wooden/semi-dark interior, lovely pub grub(Shepherds Pie yeeeeeees winning), lagers with a minimum of foam(so, not poured the Dutch way) and friendly(international) staff. The reason for an English review, is simply because practically e-very-one in there is either English(–ish speaking) or from some British island /former colony… And for all you foreign peeps in Amsterdam… Every Monday Pub Quiz in English!
