Was I fortunate to have stumbled into this lovely neighborhood bistro one evening after a day working in Amsterdam. I went out for a walk, found this place(with a little help from Unilocal) and was I ever lucky. They do two seatings and I was early(6pm) so they squeezed me in at the bar for the prix fixe and wine pairing. I took photos of the wine labels, fairly obscure french white and red that were both memorable. My hosts were friendly and real wine geeks(I mean that in the most flattering way). Great meal and two spectacular glasses of wine!

Amazing little place. Was recommended to us by our Airbnb host and it did not disappoint. Pre fix menu so don’t go in if you are craving something specific. But, if you are open to tasting some amazing food and wine then this place is perfect. The sommelier will paint the most amazing pictured of the wine and he makes sure to give you something that pairs perfectly with your meal. The food isn’t overly decorated or filled with a crazy array of flavors. It’s simple, the items on the dish are paired well and overall you will be extremely happy and full.

One of the best places to grab a drink and chat with people from the neighborhood in de Jordaan. You want touristy stuff, this is not it. This is the real Amsterdam. Hats off to all the bartenders there, especially Arjen. I had to stay in Amsterdam through Hurricane Sandy and this place cheered me up every time I stopped by.

Right along Prinsenstraat around the corner from Restaurant der Vergulde Gaper, the Café de Klepel is a friendly place… nice, warm, wood-hued décor serving up drinks and beers across the shiny bar or along a few tables in front and along the back area of the main room. Heinekens are € 2,50. Good place for a drink or coffee as you stroll through Jordan.
