We have stayed here six or seven times. It’s a lovely old style hotel right on the Prinsengracht canal. We always get a canal side room to watch life go by out front. This year we came for a week around King’s Day. It is within easy walking distance to the Kalverstraat shopping area, museums, restaurants and the Vondelpark. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating, especially the manager, Jan. They will arrange ground transportation, give directions, etc. One caution… being an traditional Dutch house, there’s no elevator and the stairs are narrow and on the steep side. We have no problem with it, but if you’re unsteady on your feet, it could be an issue. Breakfast is included and we got a fast wifi connection. We will be back.

I just love this place. We stayed 12 nights on multiple visits and really felt comfortable and at home here. The employees and Taz the dog, are all really friendly. Our little attic room overlooking the canal was adorable and quiet. It’s the perfect location too in the 9 Little Streets area. It was very small but cozy and clean. I’m really picky about beds and the one we slept on was so comfortable that I wrote down the brand so we can purchase the same one for ourselves. Hotel prices in Amsterdam are very pricey and the value’s not really good, so I’ve learned not to expect alot for 160 €/night. Don’t expect anything super fancy here. I’d say this place is more for the ‘down to earth’ traveler who likes a more ‘rustic’ feel and appreciates charm more than luxury. They have also free, unlimited wifi,(with a better bandwidth than we pay an arm and a leg for in Germany) and a nice selection of breakfast foods in the morning.(Also included in the rate)

We stayed here over the holidays. The location is right in «The 9 Streets» which is a popular destination for fashion boutiques, small cafes and local charm. We had a view overlooking the canal on the top floor,(very steep stairs) so be prepared. There was a lot of sun in the room and free WIFI. Breakfast was included in the fee and directly opens to the street for early morning people watching. The staff is very helpful and speaks English. They seem like students who enjoy talking about the city and local attractions(like Anne Frank House) within walking distance. Stayed December 2012, travelled as a couple

I loved this place! We stayed here four nights in December, 2012. The location was perfect — it’s in a quiet neighborhood, so you can actually get some sleep — but it’s only a few minute walk to all the action! The room was clean and a good size. Our room had a window and looked out over the canal… very cool. The employees are helpful and happy to give you tips about where to go. They have free wi-fi, and they have a few computers in a room off the lobby that are available to everyone. They also have a hotel-dog, who is really sweet. 1 warning — if you have an over-sized suitcase, it might not fit going up the stairs! The stairs are very narrow, and very steep. But if you’re a smart traveler, you won’t bring a gigantic suitcase anyway, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Great hotel! If you are visiting here from the USA and are used to American hotel rooms, then I would definitely recommend this place. The rooms are nice and spacious and come with lotion, shampoo, soap, and shower caps. The people at the front desk speek excellent English, which I consider a plus when traveling abroad. The breakfast is wonderful and the breakfast room has plenty of seating. The dog that lives here is a lazy sweetheart. The WiFi is free and works on the top floor as well! The walls are also thick, another plus when it comes to hotels. Watch out for the steep stairs, which are a pain to climb up and down every day. When I visited with my mom, they did offer to take one of our bags up to our room. The rooms also aren’t air conditioned and the windows don’t have screens. I would definitely recommend this place.
