Good food and a great deal. 140 pesos for a whole chicken, rice, salsa, tortillas and coleslaw to go! The chicken was good to. We enjoyed it by our pool!

Best chicken meal in town! Delicious, inexpensive, and authentic. Guacamole was extra fresh and the grilled onion was just what we needed. Even came back the next day for more. This place is simple and chill. Place where locals eat is always the best.

The menu has one thing, chicken. When you choose a meal consider the quantity, ¼, ½, ¾, or whole. You get rice, tortillas, hot sauce, and cabbage salad. That’s it, it’s simple but very good. The chicken is well seasoned and roasted in a charcoal oven. 150MXN for the whole chicken.

This is equivalent to El Pollo Loco in the united states. Except not as good. I ventured here because it had good reviews. It was okay the first time around. They just pulled lukewarm chicken out of a cooler. The second time I walked by they were grilling the new chicken in the oven so I requested it fresh and it was MUCH better. Their«salsa» just tasted like a tomato slushy with no added flavor whatsoever. I would also pass on the bland cole slaw. I basically just ate chicken with the rice, since the chicken and tortilla was not as good without salsa. Its good to take on the go if you’re going to the beach or a sitio archeologica!

if you are looking for a no frills, good food, rustic, place that serves roasted chicken? Then you have found your place. This little place has 4 tables inside with some bar style seats and about 4 tables outside. If you are looking for something other than roasted chicken, keep moving along, because they don’t have it. We split a ½ chicken between us. The chicken comes with rice, some lettuce, salsa and some fresh tortillas. You order at the counter then they bring it to your table. There is very little to this place and ambiance is whatever is going on in the street. Food is inexpensive as we paid 120 pesos for the ½ chicken. The dinner was plenty enough for 2 people for lunch. Food was good, served quickly and everything was fresh. The place is rustic as you have plastic chairs and tables, and the obligatory napkin dispenser on the table. If you are looking for some roasted chicken that is inexpensive and good. Stop here.

This place came highly rated on Unilocal.I would give it 5 stars on price/value and 4 stars on taste/quality. The failure is on the seating area/dining experience. It’s hot and not air conditioned. They don’t have fountain drinks. It’s pretty much a takeout place with some seats. If I had it to do over again we would have got ours to go and ate it near a cenote or something. It’s still a good deal for the price!

As the name sounds, they are popular for chicken. They know how to grill the chicken and they do it right! Menu is very simple — you order how muchever chicken you want — 1 or ½ or ¼th, and the plate comes with rice, a bowl of lettuce and a bowl of hot salsa. My husband and I had ½ chicken and it was sufficient for two of us. Chicken was delicious. Couldn’t care too much for the lettuce or rice or salsa, which is why I’m going to knock off one star. If you are a fan of grilled chicken, do give this place a try.

My husband and I ate here looking for a low cost meal. We eat at a variety of roasted, charbroiled, Peruvian chicken places and were really excited about this place because of the excellent reviews. The service was great and there was plenty of seating, both indoors and out. The only issue is that the food wasn’t bad but the chicken was on the dry side. The sides were not bad either but did not pack much flavor. While not bad, the food did not warrant a return trip for us. I’m concerned maybe our expectations were a bit high because of the amazing reviews, but it just didn’t seem that the food was excellent. Again, the service was great, the place was quick, and the menu is painted right on the wall.

Food was definitely better and cheaper than the places along the beach(zona hotelera), but that said, we were not particularly impressed, especially given all the fantastic reviews. It’s a good lunch spot I think, and the ½ chicken with rice is good for two people.

Love their chicken; fresh roasted right before your very eyes. Be forewarned, though, when they’re out of chicken by early afternoon, they close up shop. No exceptions.

Chicken. Chicken. Chicken. Possibly the best I’ve ever had. Great street eats after walking the main drag of tulum.

El pollo está delicioso, por algo siempre que paso hay gente. Recomiendo mucho el pure de papa que venden envuelto en aluminio. Delicioso Si andan en tulum y quieren algo rico u barato está es una buena opción.

Delicious chicken! Super moist, crazy big portion and cheap. We ate lunch here twice. We split a whole chicken and they gave us tortillas, salsa, rice and slaw to make our own little tacos. Love this place!

El Pollo Bronco is a must if you are staying in Tulum. It’s not on the beach in the overpriced tourist section. Rather, it is right in the city center. It’s a hole in the wall, no air conditioned building. The chicken is out of this world, and you get tortillas, rice, salsa, and coleslaw all for $ 8!(Yes, a whole chicken – which was too much for my husband and I). We tried another fire roasted chicken joint across the street, but it was more expensive and not nearly as good as Pollo Bronco. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Selten so gut gewürztes Hühnchen gegessen.

I wish i was able to pack this place up and take it back home with me! Probably the best meal we had in Tulum. It was simple, cheap, tasty, and no frills. For two we got the whole chicken which came with side of slaw, rice, tortilla, and spicy salsa. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. Some of the skin was still a little crunchy. They keep the chicken in a cooler after cooking, which probably accounts for losing most of the crispness. We had no trouble finishing up a whole chicken. I believe it was about $ 140 mexican for the entire meal. That’s less than $ 10 American folks. If you’re in Tulum it would be a sad vacation if you missed out on El Pollo Bronco.

Holy mother of chicken that was good. I mean best chicken I’ve ever eaten good. I’ve been to stroud’s in Kansas city and mae’s scotch hours in new Orleans. This is different, but I’d put it in the same category of great. Served with rice, tortillas, some slaw and salsa. Spicy good crispy skin and juicy. I think we spent around $ 45 including a refresco plus tip for seven.

As the slogan suggests — some of the best grilled chicken you will ever taste — under the sun. Now they can add any such claims to fame to their slogans — and I will buy it. Despite the fact that this New Englander despises the name Bronco — I confess I love El Pollo Bronco! Their menu is simple and hence very uncomplicated. You get some out of this world, heavenly tasty, grilled chicken — to go or to eat in. You can get the whole bird, ¾th, half or ¼. And along with the chicken, you get rice, salad, tortillas and salsa. And the rest is the pure joy of picking and digging into some amazing chicken. Squeeze in some lime juice. Sprinkle in some salt. Hold the bird any which way you want and chomp on. From experience — do follow this simple rule of thumb. Half a chicken is good for 2 people with a massive appetite. Because it’s just not the chicken. It’s also the delicious rice and the chopped salad and the soft tortillas. You can ask for something hot and they will get you some green hot habanero pepper purée. Be careful. It’s REALLY hot. But I loved it. So far — all the places that we’ve tried in downtown Tulum — not one has disappointed. El Pollo Bronco is added to that list.

Out of all the places I ate in Tulum’s fifth avenue, this small hole in the wall was by far my favorite. You know a place serves authentic and delicious food when the locals go to eat there. I had eaten in all the tourist attractions, bars, and restaurants and most of them tried to do too much with their menus and plates. When things get too intricate it can take away from the experience. They serve a simple menu with well-seasoned flame grilled chicken as the main course. Their sides consist of rice, coleslaw, baked potatoes with cheese and tortillas. There is no rice but quite frankly No one in my family missed it because of how amazing the meal was. I definitely recommend making a stop here to eat if you are down in Túlum looking for a meal. Unlike all the other restaurants in the strip that bombard you with all their bells and whistles, this place doesn’t need any. Extremely Affordable, great food, and homey, check it out on your next trip.

Sometimes simple food is the best food. Chefs can stumble all over themselves to create intricate masterpieces, but to get a real local flavor, sometimes it takes going back to basics. El Pollo Bronco is just that. This is simple brick chicken that’s been spiced/marinated then grilled flat on, shall we say, a very well-seasoned grill. It’s sold by the portion, chopped, and served with rice, tortillas and salsa. It’s insanely delicious. There are a few side options(like grilled onions) but the chicken is the star here. You can get it to go and take it with you to the beach, or hang out at one of the plastic tables in this surprisingly clean little street-side eatery. If you have any affinity for grilled chicken, and want to eat like locals do, this is your spot. Note that the map marker may be off by a block. Having a hard time remembering just what corner it was on. Look for the orange storefront.
