Super refreshing monitors! Super small spot in downtown tulum but with a great vibe and nice people. Definitely check it out!

A cool place with atmosphere, they do tend to have live music. We tried maracuja and passionfruit mojitos, both were very tasty, one around 70 – 80 pesos. Don’t forget to bite and squeeze out all the juice from sugar cane which you get instead of a straw.

Had appetizers and great Mojitos here last Tuesday night. The entertainment was awesome too! Funky little outdoor seating space — very comfortable to hang out! Can’t wait to go back.

Love! Great live music & delicious cocktails. Faster service to order from bartenders as waitstaff is busy/slow.

Was in Tulum for about 3 weeks and we frequented Batey almost every night. It’s a very lively place, located right in the center of town. Always has a great crowd –locals and tourists alike – and often there’s live music. Which was great. They’ve got fabulous cocktails and their mojitos are out of this world! They have their own sugar can presser out front and many kinds of mojitos to choose from. Only had appetizers when there, but the cheese plate was great and the service was very good too. The lady at the bar, Italian woman… was very energetic and friendly! She took great care of us and I believe Umberto is the owner… sat and talked to him a few of the nights. He is VERY friendly and great with all the customers. Love it, and when I return to Tulum, I’ll be back!

As you’ll read in most reviews… the mojitos with the freshly pressed cane juice are incredible. The ‘standard’ is my preference although the other flavors are also good. Since they are made with real ingredients, some of the drinks can end up containing lots of seeds. It depends on if that kind of thing annoys you or not. I was picking seeds out of my teeth for hours. We had the dish with prosciutto, cheeses, jam, olives, etc. It was very good and great for two people to share as an evening snack. There is music most nights. The music community is strong and a lot of the time the groups playing will rotate and invite each other up on stage to play/jam, etc. My guess is that a lot of the groups going down to the places along the beach for the weekends play on Wed/Thursday evenings in town. These have tended to be some of the better acts. Good place, with a good atmosphere. The colorful stage and outdoor seating play to the wonderfully cool evenings(in Feb). My ankles tend to get bit up when sitting in the outdoor section(this happens at several other places too like Charlies)…so bring some bug spray if you attract the biters like I do.

This place was so fantastic — the music, the service, the food & especially the fresh sugarcane drinks! Everyone in the bar that night was genuinely enjoying themselves, from the servers to all the patrons. Don’t miss — feels authentic, not just another cute place marketed to the hipster Americans.

Delicious Mojitos, Great Atmosphere! This place is located on Calle Centauro Sur just south of Avenida Tulum and is a popular bar frequented by both tourists and locals alike. They serve delicious mojitos in a variety of flavours. They have a colourfully painted retro VW Beetle parked in front of the bar, which they have converted into a sugar cane juicer to make freshly pressed sugar cane for the mojitos. Batey has a fun and easy going atmosphere with good live music. I came here with new friends from the hostel I was staying at and we had an amazing time! I will definitely return here next time I am in Tulum and I highly recommend this place for an evening drink.

LOVED the drinks! best drinks ive had since on vaca. Had two of the mojitios. the mayan one which was spicy and the passionfruit one which was very fresh. They make their drinks with real sugar cane which we really enjoyed. We also shared a meat and cheese plate and it was delightful. Pretty well priced as well ! had 4 drinks and the appetizer and was about 35USD. the atmosphere was awesome and very welcoming. We will def. return !

The best mojitos I’ve ever had. Anywhere. Fresh sugarcane pressed directly into your drink while fresh lime and mint are muddled and swirled with delicious white rum. This is such a cool dive with a great vibe. Again — the Italian ex pats are at work. Anyone ever seen the movie The Talented Mr. Ripley? Remember how thrilling those scenes on the southern Italian Mediterranean were with the advent of jazz, cocktails, glistening water and sun-scorched cafes? Batey Mojito reminds me of the fun celebrations in that movie with riotous jazz, small cafes and smokey stylish buzz. And so affordable to boot. Win!

This place is exactly what you’re looking for if you’re looking to chill at a relaxing, fun spot in down town. Freshest Majitos you will ever have and we usually don’t love Majitos. Highly recommend this for a drink. If you don’t come, you lose!

Just finishing this draft from my experience a month ago… I can’t believe how awesome a find this place was! I have to thank the Longhorn blonde whom I met earlier today upon my arrival and recommended this wonderful place. First and foremost — probably enjoyed the best mojito ever here! Not only was it super refreshing; it was nicely sweetened(most likely with their cane juice) without tasting sugary. Mint/basil ratio was perfect, and the jicama stick was a perfect tasty pairing with a cane of sugar you can munch on. Second, the Mediterraneo was the most badass nonjapanese sashimi you’d enjoy in the Mayan riviera! The tuna was slightly sweetened with what I presume to have been jicama slices with cane sugar. All went well with their crostonis. Live music was so enjoyable… The night I was there, the musicians were so chill — just imagine otmar leibert mixed with a splash of louis armstrong.

Brooklyn meets Mexico in a bar. Great looking venue, great service, and good drinks. Live music was enjoyable as well. Mojitos are quite good, especially with the real sugar cane accompaniment. It will be hard to just order one. Drinks are more important than food here. When you’re sick of the touristy Mexican beachside venues, come here to remind yourself that you have taste.

Chill mojito bar with a great set up for live music. The first night we came, they were having a jam session, which involved 3 flutists playing together at one point. Pretty loose environment, though hip. The first night we came, my second ginger mojito was much stronger and more flavorful than my first, but they were both chock full of lime and mint and included a sugar cane stick. On our way out, the manager said a reggae band would be playing the following night. So we returned, excited for reggae, but it turned out that a traditional folk band was playing, and my mojito was more similar to theweaker one from the night before than the better second one. On our way back to our hotel, we saw that Curandero was lively, with a reggae band performing. It seems like Batey’s and Curandero are the two main spots in Tulum town for live music with chill vibes. So, I’d recommend looking into which of them will have the better scene on the night you want to go, and working your charm to improve your odds of a *fuerte* mojito at Batey’s.

Batey was a super chill bar filled with both locals and tourists. When we got there, they were projecting an old Italian movie in the back and there was a guy selling tacos in the front. I highly recommend getting the mojito! It comes with a lot of lime and a stick of sugar cane and only costs about 100 pesos.

If you’re ever in Tulum, do visit Batey Mojito! Between the 4 of us, we ordered 4 different kinds of mojitos and loved them all There’s live music There’s free wifi! There’s free wifi! Did I say, there’s free wifi! Drinks are very reasonably priced The staff is friendly! What more does one need — a good drink and company of good friends!

this is a very cool and hip bar but unfortunately the drinks were weak and if you order a premium rum, you might get something of lower quality. After 3 of their mojitos I didn’t have a hint of a buzz. stick to beers here instead of their overpriced cocktails
