OK. Overpriced. Trendy. Loud. Slow service. Locals call Thursdays«Overpriced Burger Night» and we go and enjoy the burgers — until we get the check. It is ok.

The Restaurant came highly recommended. Stopped for lunch and ordered the braised rabbit tostados. Excellent! Enjoyed it so much we are making reservations so we can enjoy dinner. Did go back for dinner and very glad we did! From the appetizers to the deserts, all were excellent. Feasted on octopus, kale salad, tuna poke, ravioli, pasta and salmon. Service and atmosphere also once again lived up to expectations. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place and the food did not disappoint! We had the Guajillo chili braised rabbit tostadas(delicious!) as a starter and split the Curry dusted Shrimp and Scallops as an entrée. You couldnt really taste anything curry but the dish was still very good and cooked exceptionally. The only thing is the dessert was just«okay». We split the chocolate torte which had a different texture(a little odd but still edible). All and all we would recommend The Restaurant if you’re looking for a more modern American restaurant.

I would give this place a negative value. Not even a 1. The Restaurant was the only reason my family’s Christmas Eve was ruined in December. Considering the Christmas rush and the rave reviews online, my brother and sister-in-law prudently made a reservation 2 weeks in advance to ensure we had a spot. They did it via The Restaurant’s own online booking service then got the confirmation email immediately, just like any normal online reservation. I want to make this clear — all of us came from abroad to see my brother and sister-in-law in Mexico. I hadn’t seen my family in 2 years. Christmas is a big deal where I come from. My aunt and uncle and I had flown from the States and my parents from the Philippines. My brother had just driven us 3 hours from DF earlier that day. We were all looking forward to Christmas Eve and this place. We get to The Restaurant 10 minutes before our reservation and we’re told we are not on the list. BS. My brother shows the receptionist the confirmation email. Receptionist brings the manager. Manager tells us we should have gotten yet ANOTHER email that we were supposed to reply to ‘truly confirm’ our reservation. Brother checks his email and finds no such message in spam, inbox, or archived messages. We find no clause in the initial email indicating such an arrangement. After all this consultation, manager still insists they sent the second message and we failed to reply. We then ask to see a copy of this second message but are told that it was ‘in the manager’s office’ and therefore inaccessible. On top of that, we are told that to truly complete the reservation, we were supposed to put in a deposit which was supposedly asked in the second email. As it was Christmas Eve in San Miguel, no other restaurants had any vacancies for our party(and their own staff confirmed this). We asked if The Restaurant would have any vacancies later on in the evening, since we were willing to wait. The manager adds that even if we didn’t have a reservation, they still could not accommodate us because there ‘wouldn’t be enough food’ for everybody. Clearly at this point, he was piling on excuses for their screwup. Throughout this entire time, other people were streaming into the restaurant, being warmly received by restaurant staff and their friends as they sat down to dinner, while we stood out on the sidewalk begging for a table. On Christmas Eve. Luckily we found another place at the main square that accommodated us at a table who had a much later reservation. I can’t speak for the food because we didn’t even have a chance to get in, but the service is terrible. Because of this, The Restaurant made my Christmas Eve in San Miguel de Allende truly unforgettable.

The ambiance was quite nice. We enjoyed the gently lit setting and the combined old world architecture with a modern feel. The guava based cocktail was well constructed and it had both a refreshing and complete palette. The Pear St. Germain cocktail was far too spirit forward and felt very unbalanced. It needed a touch of simple syrup to balance out the bitterness. The Cesar salad needed to be served on a cold dish to provide a more crisp experience. Add to that far too much dressing and the salad missed the mark. The main entrée consisted of a gnocchi with lemon and herb and it’s sad to say that the flavors fell quite flat. The herbs tasted wilted and the dish overall had too much lemon. The citrus seemed almost artificial. I’d like to suggest to the staff to slow down. There was a sense they were constantly rushing from one table to another and back to the kitchen which was a distraction from the meal.

We came here for Christmas Eve dinner. We had the four course meal with wine pairing. Service was top notch as well as food. This is our second time coming to this restaurant and San Miguel. We highly recommend.

This place is pretty great. We had a few appetizers, both excellent. I got braised pork cheeks for an entrée also great.

We chose this restaurant on the recommendations of several local residents. I must say, we were blown away by every aspect of our experience. The staff was professional, attentive and friendly. My husband had a gin martini which rated as «perfect». We split the arugula and pear salad, a tasty blend of ingredients and flavors. My husband had the pork chop and sweet potato purée, cooked perfectly and great flavor. I had the salmon, again beautifully prepared with interesting flavor combinations. We ended our meal with the caramel sundae. «The Restaurant» would rate 5 stars in any large metropolitan area, and to find a gem like this in San Miguel de Allende was a gift. It is comparatively expensive for the area, but by US standards, a real bargain for what you get. Very highly recommended.

This was our first meal our our trip and it was splendid. The food was fresh and flavorful. We had the chicken and shrimp spring rolls, the cheese plate, and the tuna tacos. We also enjoyed a pineapple margarita and a watermelon margarita. We were too full to get dessert but plan to go back.

I had heard lots of different things about The Restaurant and read many of the reviews. I also saw it on the Top Chef finale so I was more than intrigued to try it out and let me just say I was not disappointed. we arrived right at 6 pm after having made reservations for Thursday night burger night and I am glad we did. The Restaurant filled right up but did not lack at any point on service. We had the attention of the waitstaff to the point it almost felt like we were exclusive special guests(um we were right?) but not over overbearing at all. The burgers were on point and so delicious as was every course we tried. Cocktails were fantastic and the ambiance was incredible! We had to go back for lunch to see if it was a fluke that it was so great and no it was not, our lunch was just as fantastic!

Honestly this place was okay. The apps were pretty decent, but the main courses were pretty bleh… nothing special. Its also pretty expensive for what it is.

Excellent food and the wait staff was attentive. Our first waiter didn’t seem as excited as the other waiters in regards to describing the meals. However, the taste of the Pork Cheek was divine ! The dessert of caramel ice cream and marshmallow crème was delicious. Its definitely a luxurious atmosphere and you feel that you are dining in the best restaurant in town.

First of all, the food was amazing. Everything was executed in perfect portions and flavor compliments. Second, not speaking much Spanish, I was so appreciative of the bilingual and friendly staff. Their wine and cocktail list was perfect and the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. We’ll be back during our time in San Miguel!

Just had lunch here. I ordered the brussels sprout salad and it was great! My husband had a porcetta sandwich which he loved. It has a great patio and some more space in the back. For dessert, you have to try the local liquors. I had the lavender, straight up. Fantastic. Forgot to ask if I could buy the bottle but I will sure drop by and ask. My husband tried the guava one and it was fantastic as well.

The best restaurant in San Miguel. We ate here twice during our stay and if time permitted we would have gone again. All five in our party agreed this is the best restaurant in town. The menu, the ingredients and preparation, the wine, everything is wonderful. David, Adrian and all the staff made us feel special and at home. We highly recommend the Restaurant.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Very romantic setting as there is a fountain and heat lamps with a retractable roof. We had kale and brussel sprout salad and the rabbit appetizer. For his entrée he had the stuffed pork loin dish and I had the ravioli appetizer with Roquefort cheese. We had a yummy dessert and they put a candle in it. We had numerous cocktails and each one was delightful. I really like the pear martini. Our server was Barnabe and he did an impeccable job! They are lucky to have him. For 6 cocktails, 3 appetizers, one entrée and one dessert including tip it was $ 125.
