Hours are posted incorrectly. I made my way up the hill at 1015pm to find that they already put stuff in the fridge. Out of the way fail.

I loved this place, the food was great. Service was amazing if and the owner is a working manager and checks on each table more than once. You must try this little hideaway

I’m assuming it was Jose that greeted me when I arrived. A warm welcome, a nice firm handshake and a helping attitude. I ordered food to go which was prompt, tasty and affordable. This is a nice off the beaten path restaurant you SHOULD try.

Love this place! Been there twice in three weeks. Local place with good food, good prices and good drinks. Very clean! The family that runs it is very friendly, it’s like eating in their home. The tortilla soup is the best I’ve had in PV. Last time I had the pork medallions in mushroom sauce, they were tender and delicious.

Don’t judge the façade or the interior of the restaurant — this place is awesome! Shrimp is their specialty(thus the name — Jorge’s Hideaway Shrimp Shack and it is a shack). It is a family run business(not the dysfunctional family type). Jorge and his family go out of their way to make sure your dining experience is wonderful. I can’t wait to go back next year!

This is a small family run restaurant. Owner Jorge and his son make every effort to welcome you like a family. We had a very pleasant dinner here and have nothing to say but praise for their hospitality. The restaurant is located on a quiet street a few blocks up the hill. The ambience is rustic Mexican, charming and simple. The menu has emphasis on seafood — there are several shrimp and fish dishes along with a couple of beef and pork options. There is also a selection of soups and salads — we had tortilla soup and it was delicious! I was craving for guacamole for an appetizer but it was not listed on the menu. When I asked if they could prepare it they obliged — in minutes we had freshly made delicious guacamole and still hot chips. Our main courses were great — coconut shrimp comes beautifully presented, crispy with a tangy dipping sauce(see picture). Pineapple shrimp is served on a half pineapple with a barbecue like sauce. Portion sizes are medium. The restaurant has a small bar in the corner — although not listed on their menu they do serve wines and liquors, just ask. Overall this is a very pleasant authentic Mexican family restaurant, well worth visiting for a delicious and relaxing dinner.

Just back from PV(we were there for the non-hurricane) and had the great fortune of eating at Jorge’s twice. First, you have to give him 5 stars for his fantastic welcoming personality. Then you’ve got to give him 5 stars for the food. The Diabla Shrimp is not to be missed. I also had the tortilla soup and the Veracruz Salad. Friends had the Pineapple Shrimp and Baja Shrimp. All were absolutely wonderful, we traded bites around the table. This tiny jewel of a restaurant is not to be missed if you’re anywhere near Olas Altas. Highly recommend.

Local friends took us to their favorite restaurant, located in a cul-de-sac on the cliff at the southern edge of the Romantic Zone. It being still off-season, seating was easy and the service great. The owner personally chatted us up for quite awhile, especially about Hurricane Patricia. Three of us had different shrimp: house special, coconut, and Kahlua, which we traded, so I had them all. Our 4th had a stuffed fish, which she said she liked. Easily the best shrimp I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere is basic and there are just two fans to move the air around, so if it’s crowded it might be more unpleasant. Definitely a place I’d recommend to folks interested in non-tourist local food.

We had a lovely evening with Jorge and his sons. They opened up the otherwise dead restaurant for us. Despite this, they clearly put effort into taking care of us and feed us delicious shrimp. I loved my coconut shrimp but my partner’s «special house shrimp» ruled supreme.

Jorge’s Hideaway is an intimate hole-in-the-wall in Puerto Vallarta that’s slightly off the beaten path from the buzzy areas of La Zona Romantico. Jorge and his hunky-as-fuck sons serve exquisite and memorable dinners, as well as top-notch cocktails. We liked it so much that we came back a second time. The chicken cordon bleu is a winner(ask for extra potatoes – they’re spicy and crazy-delicious). Their salads and steak also won our hearts. Margaritas and mojitos are shaken to perfection. I’m sure the seafood is fantastic but I wouldn’t know because seafood grosses my shit out. The family is all about customer service. Do come with enough time to spare – it’s gotten popular and can get crowded. Do bring your friends; they can accommodate large groups. Don’t bring your bitch attitude. This is a small family that works hard to provide an exceptional dining experience, unique from the usual pico de gallo fare.

A friend recommended this place, and we will definately be back. It’s a bit off the beaten track on a little side street, but definately worth seeking out. To start, it’s a family owned place. Jorgè and his 2 sons, with help from a few other staff, do their absolute best to make you feel welcome. I started with the stuffed wontons… cheesy delicious parcels of heaven with just the right amount of kick. My partner had the yucatan salad, he gobbled it up. For the main dish we both had the house shrimp special, and this is where this place shines. Probably one of the best shrimp dishes I’ve ever had. Huge succulent, perfectly cooked shrimp with potato mash and nicely prepared vegetables. We also had a bottle of wine, not the best, but not bad. Honestly, the only issue we had with this hidden gem, was the cash only payment policy. i spoke with Jorgè and mentioned that he might want to seriously consider changing this. He is looking into it. But otherwise. …truely inspiring and well worth the trip. P. S. With regards to the reviewer who waited so long for their bill. .In Mexico. They consider it impolite to bring the bill unless requested. So if you don’t ask… You will sit there all night:-)

Arrived a few minutes early for our 8:30 reso — no table but we were promised one where the current diners were paying. Watched in disbelief as a group of hugely fat gringos without reservations proceed to walk in and seat themselves at our table. The teenaged host refused to ask them to move. Won’t be returning.

This is a definite hidden gem in the neighborhood with very flavorful tortilla soup and other appetizers. The shrimp choices were very authentic Mexican and extremely tasty. You really have to be on a mission to find this place but once there the staff is so welcoming. and the margaritas are to die for.
