Our cab driver recommended that we come here for drinks while we were visiting downtown, so we did during our walk around downtown. $ 1 margaritas and beer! You can’t beat that! We didn’t really try any food, besides chips and salsa and guacamole, but great deals on drinks!

Just stopped for a break while strolling down the boardwalk. Hard to beat $ 1 coronas! The guacamole and salsa were fresh prepared. Take the 5 stars with a grain of salt, we were only there for a pit stop. The staff was super friendly and genuine

Really fun atmosphere on second floor with a view. Extensive drink and food menu. $ 1 beers all day.

On my first night in Puerto Vallerta, I attended a joint Batchelor, Batchelorette Party we firstly the oldies had some food they have an extensive menu of what I would call casual food I had an extremely delicious Burger and fries and some ice cold Coronas.
My Big Cuz tells me that they are a buck a beer neither my youngest Cuz and I cannot understand this do they get dearer or cheaper as the Pesos fluctuates against the Dollar.
After a visit to the Taco stands a walk along the Malecon and a million pre-​wedding pictures on the beach. No-​one could agree where to eat and we landed back at the Cheeky Monkey.
I tried the Tempura Chicken with salad, it was very nice and crispy you can get a great view along the Malecon from the balcony floor, the waiters are very helpful and the service is quick and the Maragritas are just like a lime slush puppy and as easily drunk.
Do not go to Cheeky Monkeyif you are expecting Cordon Blu food, but go if you want easy food and a great time.

Advertised margaritas were cheap and were so so on the alcohol content.
We came here twice in one week to have some late night drinks before the expensive clubs.
The staff was very cool with us just drinking and I believe they have $ 1 beers!

Good service, good margaritas and mojitos, even better people-​watching if you can get a table overlooking the Malecon. Closed kinda early but the margarita was strong enough that that was probably a good thing.

The best spot for prefunk or sunset margaritas… The view and the $ 1 margaritas aren’t to be beaten.

cute name, great view, cheap drinks and HORRIBLE food. The hamburger patty was microwaved! $ 6 USD for a club sandwich on Bimbo bread. Pizza crust as thin as a piece of paper. overpriced horrible food… won’t be back

These guys have it figured out. Cheap drinks to lure you in, and simple menu to keep you full. This is a great pit stop on a hot day. The 15peso margaritas are simple, not overly sweet, and not too big. Kind of like what you might imagine a tequila laced lime flavoured snow cone to taste like.
And being not overly sweet means you can power back a number of them while people watching from high above the Malecon.
As other reviewers have pointed out, the food is average. It’s the drinks and view that really make this place.

This is a fun to go to for sunset cocktails. The one dollar Margs are very average and overly sweet. Located right on the Malecon on the water front. Close to everything downtown. Kind of run down, but the location makes this a fun stop.

Cheap, cheap, cheap.
$ 1 and $ 2 drinks are the norm. Set expectations to quantity and not quality and you’ll have a great time.
This isn’t a bar to go to for authentic Mexican drinks. You’re talking margarita mix and the cheapest tequila they can get their hands on. But it’s a $ 1 a drink!
The staff, including the kitchen, are up for having a good time with the guests.
The only downside is the totally bizarre 10am closing time. Sort that out owners!

My husband and I love the Cheeky Monkey! It’s one of the happiest places on earth! It’s got such an upbeat fun buzz! The location is amazing any time of day or night but especially during sunset. It’s on the second floor with an open patio looking out into the Banderas Bay and over the Malecon walkway. Nothing to block your view but a few palm trees near the sea! The service is awesome! Those guys took great care of us even though the place was packed. When we came back a few more times, they treated us like family, getting us the best table possible. Coronas and Margs are only $ 1. We had chips and salsa and they was very good, fresh salsa and nice crisp chips. Prices are incredible! Service is friendly and fun. I really can’t say enough. If you go to Puerto Vallarta and you love a fun time, you must go to the Cheeky Monkey! We hope to get back out there soon.

How can you not love this place. $ 1 dollar margaritas. OMG !!!
I have never come here for the food, so I come drink and by the time I am hungry and want to eat, the subpar food tastes great. 2 of us had several margaritas and appetizers all for under $ 20 dollars. 3 hours spent having a blast.

We decided to pass on the all-​inclusive resort when we came to Mexico… and this place solidified that choice. They have $ 1 beers (Coronas) and $ 1 margaritas. They also have several mixed drinks for $ 2. Decently strong and pretty tasty. Given that they are only $ 1, I think they are well worth it (but I’m not picky either). They also have really good service and a great view of the water. We tried the mac and cheese balls, which were good. Fun and really affordable place to come and relax. If you want some really cheap drinks and a great view, then this is your place!

The drinks are cheap and the view overlooking the Malecon is excellent. Unfortunately the $ 1 margaritas are made with a crappy mixto tequila and a pre-​made mix rather than fresh squeezed lime juice. For a few pesos more you can get margarita with a better tequila but they still use the same mix. Better off sticking to the beers.
Food is nothing special but don’t go for the food, go for the view.

Cheeky Monkey is a fun bar located on the Malecon Boardwalk, overlooking the ocean. We visited Cheeky Monkey for $ 1 Margaritas and to watch the sun set before we went to dinner. The menu consists mostly of casual bar food, salads, seafood and pasta dishes, sandwiches, and pizza (think Chili’s in the U.S.) so I wouldn’t come here for the food. We ordered the fried zucchini sticks and onion rings and they were fine, but you can tell the menu is geared towards American tourists. I believe I paid less than $ 30 for two appetizers and 12 margaritas — awesome deal!!!
