Polanco is my favorite neighborhood to stay in when I visit Mexico City, but due to its popularity and prettiness, nightly hotel rates can exceed $ 250USD. Looking for something in that ballpark, I landed upon Hotel Busúe, a newly remodeled boutique hotel. The location is really great –a quiet street within walking distance of all the great cafés and restaurants– and the hotel design is beautiful in it’s traditional Mexican stonework. Wifi: it’s free and functional enough to reply to emails, but if you need to make Skype calls or use Facetime, you’ll need to leave the hotel for that(and I recommend walking to nearby Le Pain Quotidien). At least, I couldn’t use it from within my room or the 3rd floor restaurant. Separately, when it comes to added amenities, I love having a gym at the hotel and this one didn’t have that, nor could it recommend a nearby option. There was also no mini bar, for that bag of chips you crave! Room: I stayed on the first floor in room 3(or C) and while I slept very well in the king sized bed, there was very little lighting and nearly no natural light from the windows. I’d recommend adding more light to the room, otherwise it can feel a bit dungeon-like, albeit a lovely, boutique dungeon. Bathroom: very nice shower, loved the natural stone floor. Lacking though was the water pressure. The water came out very limp. A nice little touch was also the bite-sized dessert that came around at 5/6pm. Honestly though, I’m one of those people that doesn’t like to be bothered once I’m in my room and it would have been nice if they would offer the option upon check-in. Want dessert? Or are you a sour ninny that doesn’t want to be bugged? The latter please! ;) Having a «do not disturb» sign would make this a possibility. Overall, I thought the hotel was very nice and I loved the bed. With a few adjustments, I think this is a 4-star hotel. As a business hotel, Busué doesn’t quite cut it, but for a couple or vacation traveler, it’s a very good option. My stay was a solid 3.5 and I’d stay here again.
