I was put up in this hotel for business and I really enjoyed it. The neighborhood is great to walk around in, my bed was comfortable, and I love that they had curtains to keep the light out. The staff were all polite and helpful. I also ordered room service and had breakfast and was happy with both. I agree with the noise, I could hear my neighbors but thankfully they went to bed at a decent hour, I am also not a fan of the out door music that plays in the front. I know that is treading these days but it’s a bit over the top. I would definately come stay here again.

The hotel is ok. Not much amenities to work with. Dealing with the staff is frustrating as most of them do not speak English. I’m really surprise that a Sheraton hotel would not train more of their staff to speak English. The room had a strange design, esp with hidden light switch. The plumbing is really bad, the toilet in the room we stayed at got clogged constantly. What’s hilarious is when we called the front desk, I said the toilet is clogged and they transferred me to room service to see what I would like to eat. Anyways like the review before me, for your using points I guess I can’t really complain… The location is awesome, and very close to downtown Mexico City, zocalo area. Watch out for thieves in the subway.

So here’s the thing about the Four Points Colonia Roma: It’s got a mix of very good and very bad attributes. From best to worst in descending order: Value: A resounding 5 stars… if you have Starwood points, that is… revenue rates were around $ 100/night which seems a bit high, but at 3000 points a night, I was sold. As a rate of comparison, a comparable hotel in Los Angeles would probably run 12,000 points a night, so even at a $ 0.02 valuation for the SPG points($ 60), I was still coming out way ahead. Can you tell I’m a miles/points geek? Location: Again, another 5 stars. Located at the end of busy Alvaro Obregon, there were so many cool little restaurants and bars that were within walking distance of the hotel. Apparently, Colonia Roma has seen quite the resurgence in the past few years, with a slew of hip dining and gentrification going on… this leads me to believe that the hotel will soon raise their rates, but as of now, you are able to take advantage of this fantastic sweet spot. Service: Never really had to deal with the staff except at check-in and check-out, and although the English was heavily accented, we were able to make each other’s intentions known with minimal fuss. Amenities: Here’s where it starts to get weird. Upon arrival, I was a little bemused to see a fucking jacuzzi tub right in the middle of the room. «Pretty cool» I thought to myself, but then I noticed that there was standing water in the tub that made the room smell slightly moldy. The shower was also designed where there was quite a bit of standing water left after bathing, which also contributed to the smell. I realize that housekeepers in Mexico probably make even less money than their counterparts in the States… still, it was a little disconcerting. Also, noticed the sheets and pillow cases were marked up — almost as if by a pen — which was a little annoying although not unsanitary. Noise Level: Unbelievably bad… Like, so bad that I can imagine that people have just abandoned their reservations after dealing with the noise here. I am one of the deepest sleepers I know as I’ve slept through several major earthquakes in LA and am invariably out like a light, 30 seconds after my head hits the pillow… and even I was confronted by a very unfamiliar problem of not being able to fall asleep dealing with the many distracting sounds there were at this hotel. The walls seem to be made out of papier mache, as you can hear every little thing outside: people’s conversations, vacuuming by the housekeeping, etc. But what was absolutely the worst offender was the incredibly loud elevator. No matter what, you can’t really get away from the booming sound of the elevator because the floors are narrow and basically situated around it. Although I am somewhat prone to exaggeration, I am not joking when I say that the elevator sounds like a fucking garbage compactor on full blast that punctuates the still of the hotel room every 45 – 60 seconds. TLDR: I really wanted to complain about the extreme nuisance regarding the noise, and the marked up sheets and slightly moldy smell of the bathroom, but seriously… it’s 3000 points a night. If you can deal with the bad, this is a fantastic location at a bargain price… just letting you know: caveat emptor.

This was my first stay at a Four Points! I had a super comfy and spacious bed — but no window(!!!) made for a rather dark existence for a couple of days. The staff was very sweet, the restaurant downstairs has good breakfast and 24 hour room service was prompt and delicious at 1AM. I’d stay here again but ask for a decent room next time.
