SUMMARY: It can be fantastic, but needs to improve. First off: Deli & Vine is a commendable effort at a NYC-style deli in Mexico City, and one that was long overdue(not since NY Deli & Bagel in San Angel about 20 years ago had the city seen something similar). So, kudos guys. Next: the aesthetics and décor are *close*, but still need work. The first thing that seemed odd was the level of lighting. Way too bright for a NYC Deli. The fabricated«rough wood» on the tables is a little too obvious –perhaps less light can hide it. Also, the blue neon light under the bar doesn’t seem to belong there, and I never saw a NYC deli with seat cushions. The glass wall that divides the restaurant from the next door lobby is odd –perhaps blinds or a division could help(staring at the lobby security guards is not cool). Finally: My pastrami sandwich had a TON of rubbery, gross fatty edges. That needs to improve ASAP(the mustard and the pickles were fantastic though). The«Chilango» wine was also incredible. We even bought the last bottle of Nebbiolo available.
