The food was awesome! We sat indoors at about 6:00. The sun was still high and blinding for the deck seating but they have shades that block it and the view.

Very good atmosphere. Food was decent specifically the mussels(appetizer), shrimp soup and bread. The clam chowder was not very good The entrees were okay. I had the shrimp sampler they were decent, a tad over cooked and overall just not worth the price. But like I originally said it was a great atmosphere with decent food just probably not the best meal you’ll ever have

Now this time I’m going to have to refer you to other peoples reviews. There are a lot of people who really like the Captains Cove. I’m not big on this place for a number of reasons. Nothing to do with the quality of food, it’s just not for me. On the positive side, this is the place to go if you want to romance someone and watch the sun set. A large portion of the restaurant overlooks the lagoon that is inland from the sea. If your lucky, an alligator will swim buy and say hi to you while you eat(seriously). Waiters for the most part are first class and will give you good service. Drinks are unusually top notch for Cancun. Good liquor and not watered down like some places. The negative, the receptionist up front tends to put on airs like her shit don’t stink. Not a good start. The seafood itself tends to be a bit overseasoned or overwhelmed with sauce. Prime rib which is offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays is too fatty for my taste. Desserts are generally the highlight of the meal so this is the place for top notch desserts. Me? I’m a simple guy, this place really is too fru fru for my taste. As I said, it’s just me.

A nice surprise. We hesitated to go at first since the reviews mentioned kids meals, owned by a hotel, etc… But the atmosphere was nice. The service great. The food delicious. We would recommend going.

This is my favorite restaurant of the all inclusive package for the Royal resorts. You can also just pay to come(if not part of the resort). A reservation is highly suggested, although one time the restaurant didn’t seem to have our reservation that was made by our concierge and they were quick and able to accommodate us. If you are staying at the Royal sand there is a bus you can take here from the resort. Ask the resort about it otherwise city bus is easy to use and drops off right outside the restaurant. I recommend sitting outside of the weather allows. They have a beautiful patio overlooking the lagoon. A crocodile frequents the restaurant and you can safely view it from the patio. The options are endless but I would recommend getting seafood here. Although we have also ordered steak and liked it. Their seafood is fresh and delicious and it is the only thing I personally order there. The clam chowder is served in a bread bowl which is a nice added touch but make sure you save room! The coconut shrimp is great but be warned they are large. Make sure you save room for a brownie Sundae at the end. All in all the food and atmosphere make this an all around great place to dine.

We are staying at the Royal Caribbean and this place is across the street(short walk) and is part of our resort so our room key is all we needed to pay for our meals. We came here on a Friday night without a reservation. Was about 9PM. The hostess did not take kindly to that, but the restaurant managers didn’t seem to mind and found us a lovely table right alongside the lagoon. Service was excellent and the food was good. Reasonably priced and they were easily able to accommodate my food allergies. They made me a beautiful piece of Chilean sea bass lightly seasoned with grilled veggies. My husband ordered the surf and turf. Both of our seafood was just a tiny bit salty but otherwise very good. Our dinner was not very expensive and they treated us to an anniversary dessert. The ambiance and the lagoon view was stellar. We even got a visit from a crocodile. On Sunday morning we came back here for the Sunday breakfast brunch buffet. Again not very expensive and a lovely atmosphere and Lagoon view. The buffet was well stocked with all kinds of things and the chef made me scrambled egg whites on the spot. Tons of sweet treats. A very nice experience. Only downside on the brunch is that there are quite a few stairs to go up and down if you take table out on the lagoon side. If you sit inside the restaurant you can avoid the stairs. Not a problem for us but for anyone that might have mobility issues. Lovely overall.

We stayed across the street and I was pretty suspicious of this place because the hotel doorman suggested it and gave us a free drink coupon that had his name as a reference. I was pretty sure we fell for the tourist thing and we’re getting routes into a situation where the doorman gets a kickback. We were with our hungry 10 and 2 year old so we didn’t have time to investigate options. Maybe he does get a kickback but who cares?! If you like seafood this place is great! We didn’t try the steaks. My husband and I had the Seafood Surprise which is a delicious smörgåsbord of fresh seafood. The calamari comes fried but everything else is grilled. It’s enough food for 3 people. The margaritas are good, service is friendly and the food comes fast. Ambience is nice and they have outdoor seating on the water.

Today was my first time eating here. I was very impressed! I’m not a seafood eater so I ordered the new 3 cheese Mac n cheese. It was amazing! The service was wonderful and absolutely loved it here. I will definitely be back the next time I come to Cancun.

We came here to try out the restaurant after hearing good things about it. Very little wait time as we had reservations. The server’s name was Saulo and he was fast and provided excellent service. The food was great as I order the Surf N Turf. We ate dinner out on the patio which provided an excellent view as we enjoyed our dinner. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and the lobster was delicious. The rice and veggies were also good. They have a good kids menu too as our daughters enjoyed their macaroni and cheese. I would eat here again and recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Came to Captain’s Cove for the first dinner. Owned by the Royal Resorts, this is one of the restaurants that you can use your room key to pay as a guest of the resorts. Naturally there are many of the resorts’ guests here. Situated on a dock overlooking the lagoon, Captain’s Cove places you at the perfect place to take sunset photos over water. Unfortunately, our experience here was less than stellar. We had a waiter who seemed to speak fairly good English and insisted on speaking this over communicating with us in Spanish and in the end got several of our orders wrong. I had ordered stuffed crab and instead got stuffed shrimp. Others at our table were also all over the place and when we ordered drinks(bottle of perrier…) they never came. I did have the octopus pizza which deserved 4 stars and the stuffed crab got 3. The food itself wasn’t terrible but man the service has probably seen better days. I would speak Spanish here as they didn’t seem to understand the English which is fine. If you prefer that we use Spanish please say so especially when we speak fluently!

I’ve been here twice and they’re always out of mint for the mojitos … Even though the mojitos is featured pretty largely when you open the menu. The sangria is decent — made with apples(not the usual citrus) The 3 Pepper Tuna Steak was amazing — order it seared! It’s not like Ahi Tuna, so don’t worry — it won’t be raw. Risotto and veggies on the side were delicious too. Definitely my favorite menu item. And last, but definitely the best, THEBREAD. I don’t know what kind of Mexican crack they put in it — but I can never get enough.

This place was very good — if you’re looking for a classier night out in Cancun, this is a good spot to go. Atmosphere First off, make a reservation for the patio. You overlook the lagoon and can see a beautiful sunset! Tables are spaced out nicely. Wait Staff Was good — attentive. There are a couple people serving you. Did not have to wait long for a drink, food, dessert, etc. Food Food was good. Not great. Not bad. Just fine. I had the shrimp trio which gives you a sample of the various types of shrimp. If you like shrimp, I recommend this dish. I don’t think I could have an a whole entrée of any one of the types of shrimps. Oh! One thing that is AMAZING?! Their free bread they give you when you side down. So yummy. I could have had the whole thing by myself! Would I go back? Sure. I would prefer to scope out of few more places if I did, though.

14oz lobster was Fantastic. It was Huge and Steam to perfection. There was surcharge, more than expected, but Worth the money. Most of the menu were hotel inclusive and some cocktails and few other menu had surcharge. Menu shows which one is inclusive or not. The next day came back for dinner again, we had surf and turf and my favorite frutti de mare. This time chose lobster to broil, it was salty for my taste but the steak was fine. And also try their tiramisu for dessert. Beautiful and delicious. Nice place and great food. Can’t wait to come back here again.

The service is really good. You have three people taking care of you at all times. Great for anyplace let alone a tourist location. The menu is fairly good and the food is better than average. Combine pretty good food with good service and really good pricing… it is worth the trip. Make a reservation so you can sit right on the water outside.

Since we couldn’t be bothered figuring out how to eat at Omni, we decided to venture out since outside food is usually better than all inclusive. We were wrong. we couldn’t find a Mexican joint on Unilocal and ended up at the only restaurant nearby which had 2 names but both the same restaurant. The setting is quite nice right by the water with beautiful sunsets and b/w 4−6pm they seem to have happy hour which we only over-heard later as our waiter actually never even mentioned it. The restaurant must also be affiliated with hotels nearby as they kept asking us which hotel we are staying, like that matters. The menu was very pricey. Our usual jugo we got in downtown for 30 – 40 pesos was double the price and the size was less than ½. Not a good way to start… then the Clam chowder in bread bowl was no clam chowder more like potato cream soup with very hard stale bread. it was not very good. The ceviche was ok. The service is slow and almost feel like they are just trying to sell you more. not a great felling when trying to relax at a restaurant. skip this place! rather go to corner store next door and get something there to munch on. Value 1⁄5 atmosphere 3⁄5 service 1⁄5 quality 1⁄5 6⁄20

Captain’s Cove was the perfect ending to my anniversary trip. Captain’s Cove was walking distance from our resort and we came to dinner early to avoid any lines. Tip: Ask the bell person, front desk, or a taxi driver from your resort for tips on where to eat. They’ll give you insight and maybe even some vouchers. My boyfriend and I scored drink tickets which was awesome! Back to CC, the service was great! I think two servers were in charge of the outside seating so there was never a moment we weren’t checked up on or without anything we needed. The reviews warned us of how good the bread was and they werent lying! I had to have the bread placed on the opposite end of the table so I would stop. My boyfriend and I shared a salad and the seafood platter. If youre sharing(as you should because of the large portion), we each got our own plate of grilled veggies and pilaf! I thought the platter itself would be enough food but the sides were a great compliment! The lobster, shrimp, scallops, etc were all cooked well and very stuffing. We took the leftovers back to our resort to munch on while enjoying our view of the Caribbean Sea. Take-out was never so romantic.

I had the worst clam chowder of my life here, the bread was stale and there was hardly any clam in the chowder, all I could taste was potatoes. on top of that they don’t serve the bread that so many are raving about anymore.

Every trip to Cancun includes a dinner at Captain’s Cove, but we don’t really know why. The service is outstanding. The food is average on a good day. We never had anything terribly bad, but also never a dish that made us crave a return. They just don’t have the right kind of lobster in these warm waters. But by next year we probably forgot(unless I read my own review before returning). — The view from the deck is the most pleasant part of each dinner. The Margaritas tasted very diluted. A bad surprise in Mexico.

Arrive at 430pm to partake in happy hour and the sunset at the bar next door. Get a table on the lagoon. Food and view is the same as the restaurant but you get happy hour 2 for 1 drinks at the bar. Service was friendly and not intrusive though attentive. Food was fresh and delicious. Lobster was huge(it was actually a large lobster cut lengthwise, so it wasn’t a measly small whole one). Cooked perfectly. Not dry. I filled up on their delish complimentary bread and had 2 margaritas so I couldn’t finish the lobster. Wah! Why do I do that? Tip: take the bus! Only 10 pesos and sooo fast & convenient. The bus stops right in front of the restaurant. Landmark– located across from the Omni hotel.
